It is alleged that the AK Hospital reaps huge profits in providing medical services to the Tanzanian Government Public Servants and their families under a National Health Insurance Fund Scheme. The Public Servants are members of the Fund which has accumulated substantial amounts of money. The Hospital has allegedly increased its fees considerably for all and invoices the Fund accordingly and enriches itself.
 
Patients from the Ismaili community is said to have services at reduced fees. Other private patients have opted to patronise other private hospitals.
 
It is further alleged that patients have to bribe some nurses in the form of generous tips to get them to pay a better attention.
 
It is time now that the authorities investigated the allegation of unnecessary resort to maternity delivery through costly caesarian procedures..
