Press Releases: Senior U.S. Delegation to the Community of Democracies Ministerial in El Salvador 07/23/2015 11:33 AM EDT Senior U.S. Delegation to the Community of Democracies Ministerial in El Salvador Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC July 23, 2015 Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Tom Malinowski will serve as head of delegation for the United States at the Community of Democracies Ministerial in San Salvador, El Salvador from July 23-25.  The Delegation also includes Steve Pomper, Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights at the National Security Council and David Yang, Deputy Assistant Administrator at USAID.  The 8th Ministerial Conference marks the end of El Salvador’s Presidency and will conclude with the adoption of the Ministerial Declaration.  The Governing Council will also elect a new President of the Community of Democracies to serve a two-year term.  The Delegation will participate in formal Ministerial events and will reiterate U.S. commitment to the Warsaw Declaration – the practices and norms essential for the establishment and consolidation of democracy.  Delegation members will also hold meetings on the margins with other governments and civil society organizations to reiterate our support for civil society in doing their work, even in restrictive environments.
