U.S. Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Saudi Arabia

Press Statement
Jeff Rathke
Director, Office of Press Relations
Washington, DC
May 29, 2015

The United States condemns in the strongest terms the attack on a mosque today in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, which reportedly killed four people and left others wounded. We express our deepest condolences to the families of those killed and our hopes for the rapid recovery of the wounded. This attack follows last week’s suicide bombing inside a mosque in Qatif, Saudi Arabia which killed 21 Muslims peacefully engaging in Friday prayers. We deplore the brutality of the terrorists who perpetuated this violence at places of worship. These acts again highlight the complete disregard that these terrorists have for human life.

The United States stands with the people of Saudi Arabia against this violence and remains committed to working with the Saudi government and our international partners to fight violent extremism in the region.
