Press Releases: An Engine for Innovation: The 2015 Fulbright-Millennial Trains Journey 05/29/2015 05:15 PM EDT An Engine for Innovation: The 2015 Fulbright-Millennial Trains Journey Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC May 29, 2015 Six Fulbright Foreign Students who participated in the Millennial Trains Project (MTP) will participate in a panel discussion on Monday, June 1, 2015, at 2:30 p.m., to showcase the importance of international exchange programs in fostering innovation and entrepreneurial ideas among emerging leaders around the world. As an enrichment component of the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Foreign Student exchange program, the MTP provided six Fulbright participants and 19 young American entrepreneurs with opportunities to strengthen their skills in leadership, social entrepreneurship, and communication while traveling by train from Los Angeles, CA, to Washington, D.C. On board the train, participants took part in leadership development training and participated in workshops conducted by social entrepreneurs across the United States. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government that has provided more than 360,000 participants with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. The MTP is a 501(c)(3) “engine of progress,” founded by Fulbright U.S. Student Program alumnus Patrick Dowd, to empower diverse groups of creative, entrepreneurial, and civic-minded Millennials (ages 18-34) and to foster innovation and exploration within these individuals and the communities they visit. The panel discussion will be held in the Dean Acheson auditorium at the U.S. Department of State, 2200 C Street NW, Washington, D.C.
