Ambassador Robert King, Special Envoy for North Korean Human Rights Issues, will travel to Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), April 2–10, for regular consultations with senior officials on a range of human rights and humanitarian issues. Ambassador King will be in Tokyo, April 3–4, for meetings with senior Japanese Government officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cabinet Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Abductions Issue. He will also meet with civil society groups. Ambassador King will be in Seoul, April 7–9, for meetings with senior ROK government officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Unification, and the Blue House, as well as members of the National Assembly. He will also meet with civil society groups and deliver remarks at Ewha Womans University on April 9. Ambassador King will return to Washington, D.C. on April 10. |
