It ensures the conservation of native germplasm and continuance of traditional breeds of indigenous cattle," Jayalalithaa said in a letter to Modi.The chief minister said she had consistently taken up the issue with Modi. Several rounds of discussions were held by the state government with the ministry of environment and forests. Jayalalithaa had earlier written to Modi requesting him to consider of an ordinance, if need be, to enable conduct of jallikattu.
