Katika taarifa yake hiyo, gazeti hilo liliripoti kuwa, Papa Benedicto baada ya kuichambua ripoti hiyo na kubaini uwezekano wa kuibuka mgogoro wa kikanisa iwapo hatua za kushughulikia kashfa hizo hazitachukuliwa huku yeye mwenyewe akijitathimini afya yake na kubaini hataweza kuhimili vishindo vya kukabiliana na kashfa hizo, Februari 11 mwaka huu, alitangaza kujiuzulu.
