[wanabidii] Woman abandons Child in Market

This is really sad. Abandoning your own child with a stranger !!!  This is not about poverty; this is about lack of humanity. No matter how poor I am, I can't visualize myself abandoning my own kid. We sink or swim together.

This woman abandoned her child in a market with a banana seller. Did she meet a man who she thought would not accept the child?

Wanaume, kazi kwetu. We should not be putting our women in situations in which they have to dispatch of their existing children just to endear themselves to us.

The Kenyan DAILY POST 16:47

Friday 1st November 2013 - Police in Migori County have launched a manhunt for a middle aged woman who abandoned her 2 year old child at a bus station on Tuesday.

The woman had alighted from a bus bound for Homabay and requested a banana seller Eunice Akinyi to watch over the baby while she went to relieve herself at a public washroom nearby. However after 3o minutes, she had not returned forcing the trader to go look for her.

Speaking to the media, the banana seller said that she mobilised other women to look for the mother of the child but to no avail. She was not at the toilets and she had not visited the place. She just devised a way to abandon the child.

While confirming the incident, Migori Children's Officer Peter Ogindo said that the child was taken to Good Samaritan Children's home. He added that so far no one had claimed the child and police were still looking for the mother or other relatives.
