The fact is that democracy in Tanzania is on test. Baadhi ya watu wanadhani maendeleo na demokrasia are incompatible. Mfano, ni nini maana ya kusema siasa mpaka 2020 na wanaotaka kufanya mikutano wanazuiwa? Wanazuiwa kuhoja baadhi ya mambo bungeni na nje wanazuiwa kufanya mikutano ya hadhara wakati katiba na sheria ya vyama vya siasa 1992 inawapa haki ya kufanya mikutano sehemu yoyote ya Jamhuri ya Muungano.
