Press Releases: Under Secretary Cathy Novelli Travel to Chile and Peru 10/01/2015 10:46 AM EDT Under Secretary Cathy Novelli Travel to Chile and Peru Media Note Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC October 1, 2015 Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Cathy Novelli will travel with Secretary Kerry to Valparaíso, Chile October 5 to attend the second Our Ocean conference, hosted by the Government of Chile. The conference will bring together heads of state, experts, business leaders, NGO advocates, and others to tackle critical ocean issues including sustainable fisheries, marine pollution, ocean acidification, and the creation of marine protected areas. Under Secretary Novelli will speak on a panel on marine pollution and strategies for removing plastic waste from the ocean. Under Secretary Novelli’s trip will continue in Peru October 6-9, where she will meet with global counterparts on the margins of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Annual Meetings.
