Washington, DC
October 30, 2015

The Bureau of African Affairs will host the U.S.-Cabo Verde Partnership Dialogue for the first time in 7 years on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. As one of Africa’s vibrant island nations, Cabo Verde is now one of West Africa’s best political and economic success stories. Cabo Verde has managed to defy the odds and transform itself into one of the better performing economies, serving as a positive example in the region, and partnering with the United States on issues related to maritime security and economic development.

The purpose of the Partnership Dialogue is to reinforce strong bilateral relations between the United States and Cabo Verde by advancing political dialogue, discussing issues related to migration, and proposing innovative solutions and opportunities for cooperation.

Acting Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Ambassador Bisa Williams will lead the United States Delegation.

Foreign Minister Jorge Tolentino will lead the Cabo Verde Delegation.

The opening remarks of the event will be open to the press.

Pre-set time for cameras is 12:00 p.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.

Final access time for writers and stills is 12:30 p.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.
