Basel Ghattas: Exposing Israeli Democracy and challenging the Gaza blockade.
Dr. Ghattas is a Palestinian member of the Israeli Knesset (MK), one of 13 MKs elected from the Joint Arab List that unified the Palestinian Arab vote in the 2015 Israeli general election. MK Ghattas also sailed with the 2015 Freedom Flotilla to Gaza on board the Swedish ship Marianne, which was violently intercepted by the Israeli navy, in international waters. Dr. Ghattas will speak about the present state of democracy in Israel as it relates to Palestinian human rights, the occupation, and on-going efforts to break the blockade of Gaza, in Montreal, Ottawa, London and Hamilton:
