Secretary of State John Kerry will introduce Doug Hickey as the new Commissioner General for the USA Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015 at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2014, in the Treaty Room of the U.S. Department of State. Doug Hickey, most recently President and CEO of San Francisco-based BinWise, Inc., has been appointed by President Barack Obama. The Expo will run from May 1 until October 31, 2015. In this role, Mr. Hickey will lead the effort to build and operate the USA Pavilion at the 2015 World’s Fair in Milan, Italy. The Milan Expo has as its theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” and will explore issues surrounding the challenge of feeding more than nine billion people by 2050. This event is open press and will be streamed live on state.gov. Preset for video cameras: 9:15 a.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance Lobby. Final access time for journalists and still photographers: 9:45 a.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance Lobby. Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a media-issued photo identification card; or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by a government-issued photo identification card (driver's license, passport). |
