Hello people,
I have been following this post with keen interest as it is indeed very enlightening and very educative. I took an LL110 class during my first year at Uni and we had a good laugh with our teacher as he pointed some of the common mistakes non-English speaking people make. I am glad that I took that class!
Just to add to the learning another word that is often pronounced incorrectly is 'peasant'. A lot of people including learned people say 'pizant' which always makes me think of pizza :) The right way to pronounce it is with an 'e' sound rather and 'i' hence 'pezant'. The same mistake is made when pronouncing 'weapon'.
And talking of pizza that too is mispronounced. Most people call it pizza just the way it is written but it is actually pronounced 'pitza'.
Let the learning continue....

I had
the same problem with the word JUICE until I came to Canada
and learned the correct way to do it. We all rely on how our
teachers pronounce things so if a teacher does not know a
word very well, we adopt the same mistake in pronouncing
that word.
House Chores ? It's simple:
