I urge all Tanzanians at home and aboard to ask them self this simple question: Was Tanzania better off 50 years ago than Tanzania of today? I am very convinced that majority will answer yes. As far as I am concerned, we all have to face these problems head on. On the part of our elected officials that we voted to run the country, I would say they have tried to do their best, but it is only that their best is not just good enough. Let all of us join hands with the present government to improve the growth and development of Tanzania's economy by also improving our roads, bridges, provision of electricity, water, education, security to the citizen and visitors when all these in fracture are in place and the country continued to records years of stability then many investors will be interested to invest in Tanzania.

Idriss MussaFatima, I agree with you by 100%. The questions is how do we change our attitudes, mentality and the culture of glorifying corruption, not rewarding the hard working people etc. in all this, we need national leadership which has a VISION to lead the way, a road map which shows clearly that we are moving from point A to B in the short term and in the long term we will reach Z .When, How, Which, Who, What questions should be answered in that VISION. We need Honest people who are serious making Tanzania a better place for all her citizenry, not for the few. If it has happened in other places why not in Tanzania? Examples are many, you can mention a few if you like, e.g. Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, how did these countries turn from Low Income countries to Middle Income countries? There was and there is still a committed leadership, eager to DEVELOP THE COUNTRY and ITS PEOPLE!! (Tupo hapo??) We should bring back the culture of 1960s and early 70s when there was togetherness (patriotism), people working and get them rewarded whatever form or style. This will motivate a lot of the people, fairness in the provision of public employment and provision of public services. Let us emulate some countries in Africa, how are they doing it, how are they utilizing the country resources, e.g. Diamonds, Gold, Copper, Uranium, Gas, Oil for the improvement our infrastructures, schools, health facilities, etc. these countries have zero tolerance for CORRUPTION and they mean zero tolerance!!If you want to develop a family provide the children of that family GOOD QUALITY EDUCATION! We had that type of education in 1960s - 1970s in public schools then what happened GOD knows, it is pathetic. People we need some kind of awakening not only at political level, national and local(leaders) even at family level, we should ask ourselves whether there is a way out of this culture of CORRUPTION, A Tanzania were everybody deserves respect whatever form or type you are in the society. Some countries in this very Africa are doing that, you will be suprised to see how the leadership of these countries are so down to earth and the concerns of a poor somebody in certain place in a distant corner of a country is a concern of the leadership at NATIONAL level!! I know I have a lot to say but for now let me give others a chance to contribute. There is no miracles in this it is the WILL of the people and the interpretation of by the Leadership to come up with that Vision of the masses and put it into the radar. We will reach that place with VIOGOZI BORA, SIASA SAFI, na KUTUMIA RASILIMALI zetu appropriately.

Roughly 1% of our politicians are striving to make a better Tanzania, while the rest are putting forward their personal interests together with those of their mentors/cronyIt is not true that they do not know what they are doing. That is why you see aged politicians plus those haunted by illness, still consider to lead Tanzanians. What am I doing to make a better Tanzania? with a family of two children, often times I teach them to hate corruption and shortcuts in life.To be honest many Tanzanians are already spoilt, even those not in politics, are assisting politicians to achieve their personal gains. It will take us another two generations to prepare our children to make a better Tanzania.LL--On Wed, Jul 24, 2013 at 1:03 PM, Fatima Husenali <husenalif@gmail.com> wrote:
Please help me understand. How are we exactly going to end up with a better Tanzania? Do we blame the politicians for the mess we are in? Do the politicians benefit from the status quo? If so, do we honestly expect them to fix the problems?
And what part are you playing in making this better Tanzania?
There are over 6000 of us in this group! Learning what the 6000 of us have done and are doing to bring about this better Tanzania that we are so passionate about may bring about the much needed progress that we urgently need.
