Sensex surges 265 points on global rebound; banks rally
After yesterday's global stock market rout, BSE Sensex today recovered over 265 points as banking stocks rallied on hopes of increase in deposits in the wake of higher value notes withdrawal by the Centre and also investors coming to terms with Trump win in the US election.

'Banks to expand banking facility in remote areas'
Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said the government has directed banks to expand their facilities in the remote areas to ensure that people have easy access to the financial system in the wake of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

'Efforts on to build consensus on sticky GST issues'
"We are making all efforts to introduce GST from April 1, 2017. GST has to be implemented latest by September 16, 2017, and if it is not implemented by then, then states will not be able to collect their share of taxes, and hence there is not enough scope to further delay the decision," he said.
