Hello Art Lovers!

We're so excited about this Saturday's big event -- a full day art festival featuring exhibition of works for sale by Nafasi and other Tanzanian artists, a puppet making and performance workshop facilitated by three of our members, and the final edition of Wikiendi Live for the year, featuring Leo Mkanyia, Wahapahapa Band, Tulizo Band, and more!

It's going to be an amazing day, so please don't miss it.

Also coming up in the next few weeks are an exhibition, a workshop, and a film screening.

On 26 November, we're rolling several activities into one for one final Saturday bash at Nafasi. The day will include a Chap Chap Workshop on puppet-making and performance, an edition of Wikiendi Live featuring Leo Mkanyia, Wahapahapa Band, Vita Malulu, Tulizo Band, and more, and an ART FAIR with contemporary art by our members and other Dar-based artists to help you with your Christmas shopping.

Please join us and show your support for Tanzanian visual and performing artists. To join the event on facebook/RSVP, go here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1793076380950737/

Mark your calendars now for 5 December. It will be our last exhibition at Nafasi for the year, with artworks from the Spanish Art Competition which invited artists to interpret the theme of Don Quixote in a Tanzanian context.

At other spaces
Zakaria Riwa will have his exhibition, 'In Particular', at Goethe Institut from 1 December. This series of paintings addresses the time Dar residents spend sitting motionless in traffic jams, "forever on Transit, in the company of strangers," stuck nowhere and doing nothing as the time passes.

During 5-7 December, Jude Clark of Joose Digital (UK/Kenya) will host a workshop on digital strategy and marketing for creatives. Registration is 10,000tsh for non-members and free for Nafasi members. To sign up, please email info@nafasiartspace.org (and see poster below for more info)

Support the arts in Tanzania!

During November and December of this year, we are asking you, our supporters and friends, to support our work by becoming official 'Friends of Nafasi'.

In the past, we have managed to run all of our activities and programmes primarily through support from international donors. However, right now, only one key partner, the Danish Embassy, is funding Nafasi programmes and a large portion of our budget is not covered by external funding.

In addition to renting our venue and PA equipment for partner events, commission on artworks, and corporate donations, we rely on our Friends of Nafasi programme to help us generate enough revenue to survive.

Friends of Nafasi receive their name/company logo on the wall on our main building, as well as special invitations and access to Nafasi events, as well as our deep and sincere gratitude!

If you are interested in becoming a Friend, please contact our director at rebecca@nafasiartspace.org. Asanteni sana!
Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you at Nafasi soon!

Nafasi Art Space is Tanzania's top creative hub for artists, providing them with a place to create, learn, and present their work to the public. We host over 50 artists in 32 studios, and regularly hold workshops, art talks, and public events for everyone interested in arts and culture. On average, Nafasi has 800-1000 visitors every month participating in a range of activities.
