Meet the Speakers at FOA 2013:


HE Kayode Fayemi: currently the Governor of Ekiti, South West, Nigeria- one of the States which receives the lowest statutory allocation from Nigeria's central government. Fayemi will share how to unlock opportunities in a land-locked state with the audience and discuss how businesses in Canada can participate in these opportunities.


Lucien Bradet: Lucien shall be speaking on emerging opportunities in the African Continent for business owners. He is currently the President and CEO of the Canadian Council on Africa (CCA), an organization that promotes institutional relations between Canada and Africa to further Africa's economic development.


Navin Chandaria: For HC Chandaria, the Honorary Consul of Uganda in Canada, who also founded the Conros Corporation in the 70s, industrializing Africa is a major goal. Learn from a corporate giant who is listed by TVO as one of Five immigrants who changed the business landscape in Canada by surviving, adapting, pioneering and creating thousands of jobs in North America today.


Hon Jim KarygiannisJim is a Member of the Canadian Parliament and Chair of the House Parliamentary Committee on Somaliland, Nigeria, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Coptics in Egypt. Jim continues to take a principled stance on the protection of human rights and secured assistance programs that include CIDA's $2.7m to Guyana and to Tsunami victims. He will discuss how Africans can benefit from government policies to shape the future.


Hon Monte Kwinter: Will speak as a member of parliament and represent the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne at Friends of Africa, 2013. As Minister of Financial Institutions (2007), the Chair of Ontario Investment and Trade Council and Parliamentary Assistant in the office of the Premier, Kwinter will share insights on how trade and investment facilitates development in Ontario and the lessons for Africa.


Benoit La Salle: Is President of Windiga Energy. The Montreal-based, independent power producer focusing on renewable generation for West Africa, was founded based on a request for solution to the energy crisis in Burkina Faso by its government. As CEO of SEMAFO, a Canadian gold mining company focusing on West Africa, Benoit and his team swung into action and today Windiga targets a total of 280MW plants in Burkina Faso, Guinea and Niger. Benoit speaks on the potential value addition in Public private partnerships as a panacea to Africa's development. 


HE Anua-Gheyle Solomon Azoh-Mbi is the High Commissioner of Cameroon
 in Canada with vast experience in economic development and diplomatic relations.
 
H.Navin Chandaria is the Consul General of Uganda who brings years of interactions within the diplomatic community and North America's private sector. Do read his full profile above and picture.


H. Kodjo Mawutor is Consular General of Ghana in Canada.  
These diplomats, representing the leadership of their respective countries, will lead discussions at a Roundtable on Business Integration, opportunities and, how Trade Missions can facilitate integration for new businesses.

The goal of this program is to facilitate collaboration between African leaders (in the Public/Private sectors) and Canadian infrastructure providers.

Through Roundtable discussions, planned debates and informal meetings the relevant authorities in these sectors are brought together to discuss and proffer solutions to challenges in the real sector of the economy. The target audience are Professionals in the organised private sector, CEOs of Corporate Canada and Leaders that have responsibility to execute at various levels in Africa.

Objectives of Annual Round-table:

  • Facilitate discussions on Economic/ Infrastructure Development
  • Promote strong networks and opportunities for Enterpreneurs and Business mentoring
  • Discuss proper systems and maintenance culture for Sustainability
