[wanabidii] 2013 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES-WHERE ARE THESE LEADERS?

Evans Machera,

I agree with you, while initiating this discourse, I also blind copied almost all the Presidential candidates and their running mates, most of whose email addresses I have.Only Ronald Osumba responded so far.

In another post, I commended Ronald Osumba, Vice Presidential candidate for KNC who responded and elaborated what he is doing eve in his un-elected capacity.

He epitomizes what you are speaking of here; selflessness. He was not elected but he is carrying on with engagements on leadership, governance and development. He is not bitter with anyone nor is he frustrated and resentful, he simply is laying ground to enable Kenyans know and judge him better next time.

Leadership is not always about positions but the influences your agenda has on others. This is what Ronnie is doing and trust me, he is cutting his own niche, come 2017, he will be know widely than even some of the old political names currently sulking.

The leaders who ran for top office must not recline into "personal life" which they are trowing around only to surface in 2017 wanting to be elected.

They are  actually our voices out there, the government will listen to them than it would listen to ordinary folks the reason they must stay on top of auditing the current leadership and government while at the same time advancing their agenda as the alternative government.

I am happy that citizens like you are making a stand not to vote for leaders who surface every 5 years to run for elections and then vanish once they lose. This is the kind of scorecard we must keep for such leaders.

Let us all support the likes of Ronald, he is young, with great potential and lots of time on his side to craft an ideology and following that will take leadership and hopefully Kenya to the next level.

Best,

Otieno Sungu.

We can easily conclude that its selfishness Bw.Sungu.

For them, leadership is only by election with an attitude if not me,then it must not be you-i wont support you. Despite the electoral processes and outcome that some of us dint like,at the end of the day, kenya is ours and not for Uhuruto only to drive.

The president has given goodies (youths and women). We must not only say cheers but engage an implementation programme for success-kenya shall have succeeded and not Uhuruto. It will be painfull to us if falure comes along the way. We also have ICC,Insecurity,TJRC Report,Employment,Dissaters, sickness, and a constitution to implement to the letter and many more - given their status, they can authoritatively adress both the leadership and citizenry on the way forward.

They should have aired their views now about Mps search for greener "pastures" - certainly i wont vote for any of them if they keep mum till the next general election.

I am wondering why all the Presidential candidates and their running mates have all of a sudden gone mute and vanished from the scenes as if we have resolved all our challenges after the last elections.

This is a pointer to something, these folks, and their running mates were simply gunning for power for power's sake. I expected them, just as Besigye of Uganda, to be around and engage the new government and keep it on toes even if they lose. That is the true mark of a selfless leader.

But all, except Raila and Kalonzo, have receded under the woodwork! Raila may be visible but incoherent in terms of strategy and opposition management, maybe we need to give him time.

But as for Martha Karua, Paul Muite, Peter Kenneth, Musalia Mudavadi and their running mates are no longer in the picture. Martha however said she needed time to recuperate( recover from the shock?) but the others have simply lost any interest in what is going on. They do not talk about the challenges devolution is facing, they do not talk about MPs salaries which is a thorny issue, they have simply lost both color and things to say.

Is it that they are keeping "quiet" so as to appear non confrontational in the hope of being given a government job somewhere?

This is where politicians go wrong, they wait to engage and showcase leadership in the last 3 months to elections when they are definitely unbelievable.

Any of these folks wishing to give it a go in 2017 should take the battle to the new government starting now, they will have a whole 5 years to show the mettle they are made of.

I know and understand defeat can be very disheartening, especially for those who lost miserably, but a good leader is one who dusts himself, soldiers on and delivers at the end.

If this is their strategy to emerge again in 2017, the same fate awaits them for they shall not have shown anything substantial in the next 5 years worth talking about.

Sungu.
