[wanabidii] English Pronunciation

Yesterday, I heard yet another one of these mispronunciations by a reporter who was hosting a discussion about that Petition in the Supreme Court. The TV station? NTV.

Let me use Kiswahili as a reference point for pronunciation purposes:

The reporter wanted to say Scathing.

The correct pronunciation is S-ke-dhi-ng'

The reporter said  S-ka-thi-ng'

I'm beginning to get a feeling that there's a market in Kenya for one to make some good money just training reporters to pronounce English words properly.

There's another pronunciation that everyone seems to think is cute but is beginning to get on my nerves:

The word is Therefore. It should be pronounced as Dhe-a-for (with a very silent R - Let R come from the throat not tongue).

A lot of people seem to think it's cute to say  Dhe-ra-fo-r .  This is beginning to annoy me.

Courage,
Oduor Maurice Wod Plista Ny'Alego Gang
