Re: [wanabidii] Re: English Grammar

Hahaha, Maurice,
You remind me one of english presentation, a gentlelady was translating swahili into English...the so called Kiswanglish!
The other experience, a gentleman didn't get a question in English muuh! I was about to burst into tears!

I have similar difficulties. Thats, why I am keen adult learner. My background was terribly bad, especilly in listerning and writting. I don't even know how I survived!
My first interview with an American lady was a disaster! I don't even want to remember!!. Although, I got a job!

You know what ,kiugumu ugumu tu I am writing  a book, I wish english could be as easy as Swahili. But even Swahili is not easy brother, especially gramatical swahili heee!
Keep on going
Anna

Anna,

I'm just bringing out examples of things that used to puzzle or confuse me. I imagine there are a few people out there having the same problems I used to have. I never liked English in Primary and Secondary schools because of these things. Swahili was sweeter on my tongue and lips in those old boyhood days in Mombasa.

Heheheheheheheheheheheheeeeeeeeeee   !!!!!!!!

Roz,

You have a very sharp eye. I would not have noticed those as easily, especially, InFAImus. Some of those documentary reporters really amuse me with their pronunciations.

I'm still seeing the same mistake with Coalition and Fraud. I give up on those 2 words.

What is the difference between these 2 sentences:  ?

1.  Kamau complained about a corrupt Police Officer and Chief.

2.  Kamau complained about a corrupt Police Officer and a Chief.

Such things can become very serious in court cases especially when written into agreements tetesi (contentious).

Courage,
Oduor Maurice
