[wanabidii] Re: [PK] Nyanza leaders meet Raila over Kidero’s big-money harambees

Kuria,

Did you guys fund-raise for all those national Schools located in Central? Did you fund-raise for the Thika Highway currently under construction? Did you fund-raise for all those industries that Jomo used to force to locate in Thika if they wanted to do business in Kenya?

What is the Ministry of Education with billions of shillings in budget for?   What about the Ministry of Health?  What about the Ministry of national Planning? What's their job with those billions of shillings in budget? What about the District Development Committees? What are those billions of shillings given to them for? What do they do with the money if roads are not repaired, schools are not built or maintained and hospitals are dilapidated?

Please !!!!  Attitudes like yours are excuses for the government to do nothing and the money stolen by senior governments officials.

It is laughable to hear nonsense being peddled to the effect that the churched Kidero and Dalmas went help build should be build by the Govt. That never happen anywhere. May be in Vatican. They never fundraised for roads but even schools needs them unless they want children school under trees. I am shocked to hear serikali saidia from intellectuals.

MO,

Whose responsibility is it to develop an area? Or better still, who should initiate the development?

In my books, the consumers of the development initiate and execute. You do not need the government to start. Allow me to tell you how it worked in a village I lived in in the very early 1960's. A lot husbands lived/worked in Nairobi while wives and children were in the village The husbands rarely went home. Many of them had mipangos and did not need sex from their wives. The wives might go to Nairobi, for insemination purposes. Once she gets pregnant, she goes back to the village. BTW, this was the era where the letter-writing skills of KM and others were needed. If the woman felt she needed another baby and she is neither invited in Nairobi nor is the dude not coming, a letter had to be written

Most houses were grass-thatched. The wives realised their husbands would never build better houses. The guys had comfortable lives, complete with sexual services in Nairobi. The women were just baby-producing factories. These women got together and formed groups call 'Itatis'. They would contribute their meager resources and buy iron sheets. Once they had enough for one house, they one day descend on a house and replace the grass with the sheets. Then to the next house, ad infinitum.

Maurice, drop that 4 government thing. The government does not consume development. Most of the dispensaries and schools in Central were not started by the government. There were Harambee schools which were later taken over by the government.

Did I add that when a man came home and found out what the wife had done he would 'wake up'? He would realise that he was being rendered irrelevant. From then on, he became a very active participant in the development and sometimes increased the frequency of trips home.

Ask me what this has to do with development in Nyanza. And its not just Nyanza

Weli,

We've had 4 presidents since independence and it has been their job to develop all parts of the country.

Which politician are you blaming for the drought, hunger and the poverty in NEP? Which Somali politician is responsible for all the misery in NEP? The government of Kenya or the local Somali leaders?

Why should Nyanza be any different?

Why should Kidero use his money and his friends' to develop Nyanza when Nyanza people pay their taxes?  What model have you folks used in NEP that has made you so wealthy that we should copy in Nyanza? Please lend us your model.

Its to the extent that we are called tribalist and hate mongers for criticizing Raila in the forums. Please differentiate Raila the Former PM and Luo the tribe. I thought its the other way around that Raila is Luo not Luo tribe is Raila.

Richard Odipo,
You better be "getting sick", VERY VERY SO!!! Of
course, these MPs have no clue "what they are elected" to do!!! They
appear to be in unison about one thing though, to wit, that they must,
AT ALL TIMES, stand ready to streak, and actually streak, for Raila
and, if possible, question their own lunacy later!!! Our Luo people
must, NOW, be socialized to have no track with such nauseating
claptrap!!! Governor Kidero, or anybody else for that matter, commits
no known sin for encouraging his friends to come to the aid of the
much abused and downtrodden Luo brethren!!!
