I really think our government needs a very strong Children Protection Services agency that can go into villages and provide civic education to some of these people. I swear if I run into this mother and the 65 yr-old man, I would give them some very sharp slaps on the face and choice swift kicks on their asses. This is utter stupidity and even poverty can not excuse this. A 14 yr-old girl is a Form 1 kid and not someone's wife. What kind of a low-life sleeps with a 14 yr-old kid?

BIZARRE: 14 year old MARRIED forcefully as seventh wife in Trans Nzoia
The Kenyan DAILY POST County News 00:54Friday 26th September 2013 - A 14-year-old-girl from Kimasa area in Trans Nzoia County was forced to seek refuge at a police station in the area after she escaped from a forced marriage.
The class seven pupil was forced to be a seventh wife to a 65-year-old-man. Her mother forcefully married her off after the man gave her Sh 1,000 as dowry and promised to build her a semi-permanent house.
According to neighbours, the mother of five had problems taking care of her children and when opportunity arose she did not hesitate. She married off the girl being her first born daughter so as to get money to take care of her siblings.
However, the girl wanted to continue with her studies and after a night at the man's house, she ran away. She sought refuge at a nearby police station.
The OCS said that the mother is being hunted after she escaped arrest. The girl has been taken to a children's home where she will be able to continue with her studies.
