[wanabidii] Crucial Advice to Uhuru Kenyatta

I want to give Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto some advice. I'm doing this free of charge and I expect no payment. What I'm outlining here are things that I believe they should do to gain complete confidence of Kenyans and will definitely get them re-elected in 22017/8. I just want to concentrate on 2 issues for now, the most important ones.

1. Corruption and tribalism. Corruption and tribalism are the 2 biggest ills that afflict our country. We will never move from where we are if we don't arrest corruption and tribalism.

Hire people according to merit and abilities instead of tribe. Hiring by tribe can be uneconomical because we're not necessarily getting the most qualified Kenyan for a position. If Maurice Oduor is the best person to look after maji ya kunua, hire him. Don't hire Mwangi who has no clue what the challenges of Water Quality are.

Make sure corruption is eliminated at every point in any government transaction. This is a science and can be dealt with through an application of something MBAs call Management Science. It places management controls at every step of a transaction to ensure that corruption has no room to flourish. I have a written program that I'm willing to give free of charge to Kenya to help them stamp out corruption.

2. Job creation: Create a situation that allows for a massive job creation in the country. Copy the SE Asian countries of the 1980s. They did it and we can too. The biggest problem we have is that most of our youth (18-30) have no viable employment. This is a major reason why crime is rampant in our country. This is wrong and we can correct this if the government is willing to deal with the situation. Ni nia tunahitaji.

The major industry that even the World bank has talked about is the manufacturing industry. Let's not be exporting raw coffee beans. Let's roast, grind and package it before we export it. Let's not export raw tea leaves. Let's bag and package it before we export it. Let's not export raw pyrethrum. Let's process it and package it before exporting it. Let's not export raw cotton or simsim or moringa or any other resource. Let's always be processing and adding value to our products before we export them. The oil in Turkana; let's not export raw crude oil. Let's distill it into paraffin, diesel, tar, jet fuel etc. before we export it.

No country in this world has ever moved from a third-world status to a developed country status without developing a solid manufacturing industry. A solid manufacturing industry in Kenya can produce more that 2 million jobs per year for the next 15 yrs. Let us try that. It wont cost the government any money. The government simply has to create the right conditions and investors (even locals) will pick up the cue and do the needful.

I hope Uhuru and Ruto concentrate on these 2 issues. In fact, I insist they do..

Nchi yetu bado ni maskini jameni. Tunaomba tutoweke na ukabila, ufisadi na rushwa kitu cha kwanza; ni adui wa maendeleo. Kisha we embark upon manufacturing. Wakenya wanawategemea the Jubiliars to carry out these projects/reforms. Wakenya wanatafuta mabadiliko.

Nawasilisha.

Courage,
Oduor Maurice wod Ugenya Ukwala
