[wanabidii] Why I Prefer Circumcised Men

 by: Francesca Mukama

I start my blog by quoting Harry Fisch. He said, "Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis. It is part of a religious custom for Jews and many Muslims, for reasons that have been lost to history. The popularity of circumcision in other groups of men has waxed and waned depending on prevailing notions of health, cleanliness and parental preference."

Everyone has got their tastes and preferences and YES, circumcised men are my poison.  I came to this conclusion after errmmm for lack of a better word 'Being involved' with the uncircumcised too.

And my reasons like any concerned citizen are because I believe circumcision may reduce the risk of developing a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), such as a bladder infection.

It may also reduce the risk of getting some types of sexually transmitted infections, such as HIV and genital herpes and may reduce the risk of developing cancer of the penis.

For the females, circumcision may reduce the risk of us developing some types of sexually transmitted infections, such as Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), also known as vaginal bacteriosis. It is the most common cause of vaginal infection for women of childbearing age. Although it frequently develops after sexual intercourse with a new partner, bacterial vaginosis is not considered as an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection). BV is more common in women with multiple partners. )

Then there is Trichomoniasis which is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a small organism called Trichomonas Vaginalis. Women are most often affected by this disease, although men can become infected and pass the infection to their partners through sexual contact.. Those who have experienced pain caused by these STD/I's can attest that it's not a position you wish your worst enemy to be in.

However, most healthcare professionals maintain that the potential benefits of circumcision are not strong enough to justify routine childhood circumcision. I get it; there will always be those for or against any given topic.

Some people prefer the non – circumcised. A friend of mine once said, "Men who want more sex, listen up. She needs to like it better and she'll like it better if you realize what's missing – your foreskin."

They are backed up by the fact that circumcision has some disadvantages like reduced sensitivity – an uncircumcised penis is more sensitive than a circumcised penis, meaning that circumcised men may experience less pleasure during sex. I have been carrying out some research to find out if truly circumcised men don't experience the effects of full blown love making like their counterparts who have their foreskin intact. I will release my findings as of when I get the statistics right.

The other major disadvantage and concern by many who fear to be 'knifed" is, the potential complications of circumcision like excessive bleeding, post-operative infection and, in rare cases, injury to the urethra. One may argue that these complications outweigh any potential benefits of "going under the knife" like some Ugandans put it.

Critics have also argued that routinely circumcising baby boys on medical grounds violates the principle of "consent to treatment".  They say that circumcision should only be performed when a boy is old enough to make an informed decision about whether he wishes to be circumcised.

It all comes down to choice; will I circumcise my son when I ever bear one? –Hell yeah because I believe the benefits outweigh the disadvantages and risks and that's why ladies and gentlemen I Prefer Circumcised Men.

Like I always say "Health First."
