Judy, Raila is the longest serving detainee. He was detained because of his agitation for a better Kenya. He was only released after the people who were in power had accepted to change the way they were doing things, just like Mandela. True, he could not have done it alone, the same way he could not have removed Moi from power alone, but he played the pivotal role. When he became prime minister in 2007, he worked for almost one year without a salary. He used his personal resources. His wife Ida was offered a salary but declined, saying she didn't need taxpayers money. How do you call such people greedy? I can forgive you coz you were out in the states enjoying yourself when myself and others were in the street fighting bad governance. When Yash Pal Ghai was going all over the country collecting ideas on how we wanted our country run, you were probably in Acapulco enjoying yourself though I highly doubt that, it takes a happy person to enjoy themselves. When the fruit is picked, you suddenly pop out of the woodwork telling us how stupid we are yet praising the things we have achieved so far. |

Cosmos, You are dead wrong. What about us? Did we not sacrifice our lives and continue to struggle to achieve Human Rights with true independence that are against corruption. It is only that we do not have to blow our horns. But, I want to correct you with facts going down the memory lane. It is because, a true freedom fighter should not indulge, feed and benefit from corruption head on. We must begin counting from where democratic journey for Kenya begun and with who were on board: The list of Kenya's Freedom Fighters and the Founding Fathers of Kenya who contributed to the struggle for Kenya's liberation from colonial rule till Kenya got its Independence in 1963 with Jomo Kenyatta as their President are as follows: 1.Jomo Kenyatta. 2. Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. 3. Daniel Arap Moi 4. Mbiyu Koinange son of Senior Chief Koinange wa Mbiyu. 5 Harry Thuku. 6. Dedan Kimathi 7. Martin Shikuku 8. Paul Ngei 9. Ronald Ngala. 10. Achieng Oneko. 11. Tom Mboya. 12. Masinde Muliro. 13. Argwings Kodhek. 14. Bildad Kaggia. 15. Kung'u Karumba 16. Fred Kubai. 17. Waiyaki Hinga 18. Koitalel arap Samoei 19. Gor Mahia K'Ogalo Tell me where Raila's name features in that list? But having been in the front line with the second liberation of Change the Constitution in 1992, Raila would not have done it alone. Where are those who initiated, let it and joined with the rest to achieve the 1992 "Change the Constitution" After the change, Raila included, is ranked very high "TO-SHOW-ROLE-MODEL" of fighting against corruption. I have issue with you here because lists of wrong doings by Raila has caused many more sufferings to many people and in comparison, the Late Tom Mboya did a lot that after his death, the institutions are still standing and are employing people and providing education as well. Raila instead has been seen as blocking everybody else at the door and negotiating for self-interest and not those of the people's progress. He started by sending his foot-soldiers to sell propaganda and that "Raila know how to fight Guerilla War", that, it is what he went to study in Russia and that is what he wanted people to believe. This is how he sent chill and fear on people whom he saw as challenging his way to Presidency. Going down the memory lane, Raila Amolo Odinga was born on 7 January 1945, when Tom in 1953, at the age of 25 years old joined the movement to free Kenya and Africa and begun the struggle for independence and negotiating for better deals for Kenya and Africa. In 1958 at the All-Africa Peoples Kwame Nkurumah of Ghana convened a meeting in Ghana and Tom Mboya was elected as the Conference Chairman at an early age of 28 when Raila was only 13 years old then. When Kenya got independence in 1963 Raila was 18 years old fully grown adult. Tom Mboya became the Minister of Justice and for the Constitutional Affairs, a position he utilized to shape the future of the Independent Kenya. In 1964, Kenya became Independent with Tom Mboya being appointed the Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Raila then was 19 years old. Because of Tom Mboya and others in unity led by Kenyatta, Kenya moved to where it gained recognition in the world to include a remarkable American school known as "Kenya Starehe Centre" initiated by Tom Mboya and which is instrumental for positive change and development in the Kenya/American Partnership which also followed with National Youth Services in Kenya. This followed with the famous "Air Lift" of the first US students from Kenya to America including Wangare Mathai among others, and where Obama Snr. was amongst those students airlifted to USA. In between, the constitution saw several minor and major changes culminating in the 1982 Constitutional Amendment that transformed Kenta from a multi-party to a single-party state. The 1983 and 1988 elections affirmed and strengthen the single-party system headed by the Kenya African National Union or KANU. The 1990s witnessed institutional decay, social breakdown and economic distress that conspired to agitate reform movements with roots dating back in the 80s. Abetted by US pressures to achieve a clean governance, its parliament amended the constitution in 1991 that resulted in a multiparty elections held in December 1992. Raila suffered a set-back in the jail for what was termed as a coup, which in my opinion, he may have wanted a repeat of the same through removing the constitutionally elected President with mass action by force after he has lost election in 2013. These are common traits seen in Raila aka Agwambo, that if he can't get what he want, he must use force. Proof of the pudding is show-cases of Raila's achievements, because even in the famouse "Change the Constitution of Section 2A in 1992, it was Raila's father who led us all to achieve now this Change the Constitution which was initiated by Jim Orengo who invited Shikuku, Jembe Mwakalu, Muite, Gitobu Imanyara, George Kapten, and Raila Odinga with others, the the group grew bigger and bigger.....with the office set up at Spectre House in Nairobi. So if Raila participated and suffered casualties in jail like everybody else, that does not mean that the true Freedom Fighters should be forgotten so Raila should take all the credits he does not deserve. What about those who paid the price for Freedom and Change the Constitution with their lives, like the Constitutional Lawyer Odhiambo Mbai who was shot dead in his house for writing the change constitution? What about President Obama who took initiative and helped to finance the complete process of the New Constitution for Kenya we are now proud of, does he need to be considered in the History books as well? Good people, it is important to know history and be sincere with ourselves putting light to historical facts with where we are coming and going historically. You wonder what Raila has done for Kenya? They are uncountable. One of the many is the democratic space he successfully fought to create. A Kenyan like you can now criticize anything (the government included) the way you want, and even if you are bereaved you can fly back home, mourn and come back to the US without "watching your back!" It was never like that some years ago courtesy of Jakom. I will repeat one more time what I said earlier: Kenya has a president. His name is Uhuru Kenyatta. Before that we had Mwai Kibaki. Raila has never been president and is not even in Parliament now. The issues such as Migingo and Yala Swamp should be directed at the President, Uhuru. If you keep crying with Raila's name over these issues, then you will keep crying until at least 2017. If you want a solution to those issues, direct them to Uhuru. Otherwise, it's beginning to appear to me that your hatred for Raila is more important to you than the solution to these problems. PLO Lumumba is one professional in the freternity field of Legal Justice. Like Miguna Miguna, he kick start the fight against cancer of corruption from Musevenis' back-yard. We too must put Raila to task to save Kenya/Africa from unlawful infux of invasion and extermination. Leaders must be taken in trust in high esteem and be expected to act rightly by doing the right thing. They must go down in shame if they contravened in their trust. If Raila has never been a President, the fact remain that he was a PM in a 50/50 coalition sharing in the ruling government which means, he had equal powers like that of the President, and sometimes PM is regarded internationally as a post with more powers than the President. When Raila came to power he came on board as a reformer who is against corruption. In this case, he had no excuse of not doing the right thing. It is because he had equal sharing with the President and this means he was as good as the being the President to have made the meaning of Democracy take effect on the right footing; and therefore, if he made deals with the likes of Museveni e.g. and both travelled to Israel and made deals against democratic principles, who is he to blame after he chewed more than he can swallow.........my question therefore, did they or did they not made deals……..yes or no?? If they did, who did they inform? Did the people know that their wealth and resources were part in the deals that Raila and Museveni engaged on? If not, then let Raila take responsibility to tell the world what he took illegally from the people and who benefitted up to this point if he did not steal from public, so he can be asked carefully to return the value of public wealth and resources that he stole and sold without the consent of the people and the community and without complying with the principles of constitutional mandate. Let us be sincere, objective and serious on matters that affect us with our people. The future of Africa begins with an individual's commitment who collectively agree to accept reality of the matter and do their best to improve and fix a problem which is about to consume a whole population of all Africans. Oburu's claim did not come out of a vacuum, or like foot-soldiers sycophants would like it said, "vacuumated". When Oburu announced threat on Raila, he inferred a secret information given to him by a Zionist Mossad about Raila's assassination, John MCcain therefore knows well which side his bread is buttered on. What is before us is a serious malignant and a contagious cancer that need urgent fix. We cannot pretend that all is well or that we push the problem to the President alone. People must stand tall to protect their interest against adverse effects from the politicians. All of us must engage because all our interests are at stake, and we must push the Government system, the Judiciary with all other relevant fraternity to commit to save Kenya by doing the right thing to secure people's rights, value, respect, dignity and virtue; where Kenya has been dug into. While we are doing that, all those responsible, must be taken to task even if they have 100billion followings, they must account for their mess and take responsibility for the same, whether they are most powerful, big or small.
