SwitchPoint 2013 has launched an exciting international contest for undergraduate and graduate students . It's called Silo Busters, and is a lightning contest with deadline of March 31, so share as soon as you can. It's a great opportunity for students to land on the SwitchPoint 2013 program and present alongside global innovators. All expenses paid thanks to the generous support of Pfizer's Global Health Fellows Program. Please see flyer (attached) and announcement (below) for more information.

 

Take a moment now to spread the word:

 

1. Email the flyer (attached) to all university students you know – and ask them to forward! Print and post flyers at your local campuses.

2. Email the announcement (below) and flyer (attached) to university teachers, staff and other contacts.

3. Post to Facebook and Twitter (#SwitchPoint).

Silo Busters Contest: University students everywhere are invited to submit a SwitchPoint—an unusual pairing of ideas that could have a real impact on the world. Be part of the first annual Silo Busters Contest and you could present your great idea alongside global innovators as part of the SwitchPoint 2013 conference program this April 19 and 20 at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, North Carolina.

 

SwitchPoint is all about finding new ways to spark innovations that will save lives in the developing world. What are the intersection points, the unusual collaborations, and the repurposed good ideas that could solve the greatest challenges of our time? We encourage you to bust down old silos that divide ideas, tools, people, and organizations, and to recombine, remix, and recycle ideas. What if the best innovation in one field could make a much greater difference if applied in another? 

 

What is your SwitchPoint?

 

How to participate: This is a lightning contest so you have to think and act fast. Post an essay up to 350 words or a video up to 90 seconds long describing your silo-busting SwitchPoint and how it could make a difference. The deadline for submission is March 31. One entry per student. Open to undergraduate and graduate students. Send written entries and the SHARE link for videos uploaded to Vimeo or Youtube to switchpoint@intrahealth.org. Or post links to Twitter using the hashtag #SwitchPoint. Use the SwitchPoint Reader to find great ideas, people, and tools to consider. Visit the SwitchPoint 2013 website for more information.

 

Winning: Our amazing panel of judges will select the top three entries for silo-busting imagination and potential. If your entry is selected, we will invite you to join the SwitchPoint 2013 program to present your idea on stage and attend the full conference and concert on us. We will cover your expenses including travel, meals, and hotel accommodations. You will also have access to SwitchPoint speakers and VIP events.
