But the point of democracy is that a person should be cleared of all charges before he/she is considered for an elected position.
Would you hire an accountant who is still innocent but has been charged with fraud? Would you hire a lawyer who is still innocent but has been charged with stealing a client's money? Would you hire an engineer who is still innocent but has been charged with negligence for designing a faulty bridge that has just killed 1500 people?
Think about that.
