He was an outstanding human being, a true natural leader, blessed by the Almighty. A true son of Africa, he detested any discrimination in whatever shape or form e.g. Colour, tribe, religion, group, or gender. He hated corruption and fought against it. Not the current leaders we have around in Africa, maybe Kagame. You can compare Nyerere with the group of Dr. Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gadhi, Kwame Nkurumah, Nelson Mandela, the natural born leaders! Hopefully our current leaders can emulate him!

I have listened to a lot of speeches by presidents and former presidents in Africa and I must say that Nyerere stands on top of all of them. Ndio Nyere made some mistakes, no one is perfect. But his mind was always in the right place.

Nyerere alikatataa ukabila, udini na upumbavu. Hapo nitamshangilia forever. Those are the biggest ills in Africa.
