INVITATION TO SHORT TRAINING CERTIFICAT COURSES AT GTI

 

 

The Gender Training Institute (GTI) is pleased to invite participants to its short training courses that will begin in April to November 2014. GTI is an autonomous institution officially registered under the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE). GTI aims at improving people’s livelihoods through social justice for men and women, gender equality, and empowerment of women, youth and marginalised people. Objectives of the courses are to enhance awareness, build skills development and capacities to mainstream or integrate gender and social inclusion perspectives in policies, plans, programmes and budgets with a view to enhance performance and efficiency of their institutions to increase productivity and growth, reduce poverty and improve livelihoods. 

 

Courses are open to Tanzanians and other people from Africa and other countries who posses at least a diploma. Tailor made courses can be offered to groups on demand and request.

 

Since 1993, GTI, together with the Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP), have successfully executed 75 full training courses, 54 tailor-made courses and trained 1,890 Alumni.

 

You are welcome to register for any of the Two-Weeks Courses listed below.

 

2-WEEKS REGIONAL CERTIFICATE COURSES FROM APRIL TO NOVEMBER, 2014

1.       Gender, HIV and AIDS in Macro Economic Policy.

2.       Gender Responsive Budgeting and Performance Tracking.

3.       Gender Based Violence and Human Rights.

4.       Gender, Democracy and Constitution.

5.       Mainstreaming Employment Creation and Decent Work in Policy, MTEFs and District Plans with Gender and Youth perspectives.

6.       Mainstreaming Gender and Social Inclusion in organisational aspects (i.e. vision, mission, systems, structures, management style and culture and resource allocation, including HRM and financial resources. 

7.       Gender and Conflict Resolution and Peace-building.

8.       Gender, Livelihoods and Social Protection.

9.       Gender and Entrepreneurship, Productive Skills And Wealth Creation

 

Targets for the 2 weeks regional certificate courses are:-

·         Policy makers, planners, economists, budget officers and other government officers.

·         Trainers, lecturers, research officers, teachers and Human Resources officers

·         Gender and HIV and AIDS focal persons

·         District and Council officers, Social Welfare officers, and Medical practitioners.

·         CSOs/NGOs Programme and Budget Officers; and Religious leaders

·         Officers of the UN agencies and other Development Partners

 

FEES:                     TZS 950,000 for Tanzanians and USD 2,500 for participants from outside Tanzania. The fee covers training costs, materials, stationery and field visits. It also covers lunch, morning and afternoon teas at the training venues.

 

3- DAYS EMPOWERING WOMEN AND YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

 

This is a high quality training course to empower, advance and promote the participation of women and youth in national and local elections. The course explores multiple challenges women and youth face in their quest for participation in politics and decision-making processes. It will equip participants with skills to contest for leadership positions, and address barriers and opportunities for their inclusion in politics and decision-making structures. It will also hear from them what kind of support and they need in their leadership development.

 

Training Modules and Learning Points:

·         Participants will address issues of breaking barriers to overcome the challenges women and youth face to participate in politics and decision-making; they will also address the significance women and youth participation in local and national elections.

·         For effective campaigning, they will learn how to conceptualize women and youth issues; laws governing elections for their confident participation in elections; and effective skills in campaigning, communication, public speaking and fundraising.

·         Building Women’s skills and Self-Confidence to empower them to take on Leadership roles

 

Target of this training

The training is open to a variety of people including grassroots activists, CSOs, CBOs and FBOs, lawyers, teachers/trainers, human rights activists, university students, gender focal persons, researchers, Programme officers, and government officials.

 

Fee is TSH: 500,000. The fee includes training materials, teas and lunches. Participants will take care of their transport, accommodation and health care.

 

All participants for all the courses will be expected to foot their travel costs to and from Tanzania; as well as costs for accommodation and dinner. Fees will be payable in advance. Please pay your fees to:
