Dear Friends,I Feel obliged to say something about this topic of spirituality in Kenya because I will be guilty if I keep silent. There are three main issues in the Kenyan case of Christianity.First, in Kenya every Harry Tom and Dick are pastors.In other countries, one cannot claim to be a minister of religion if he/she is not called, trained and ordained by a recognized church.Second, most of the Kenyan mainstream churches like the ACK,PCEA,PAG,KAG,Lutheran,the Roman Catholic Church,the SDA,The Religious society of Friends, Church Of God and the Salvation Army, abdicated their role of preaching the gospel and entered into politics especially in the last two decades. The churches stopped training pastors and those who made themselves avilable were not called. They took to preaching because they could not find jobs. Some Churches got it all wrong by sending people to study abroad so that they could come back and lead the church. Those who went decided to study political science,and other courses and when they came back they joined the public sector.Thirdly,because of the two points above, the Charismatic movements that started in the early late sixties through the seventies, gained momentum with the preaching of the gospel of health and wealth, they preached miracles instead of Jesus' gospel,the government was also mesmerized by these movements giving way to many people starting their own "churches".In conclusion, I would like to say that their is always the truth in the midst of the Bible wherein,we can find the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.God does not leave any generation without a witness and a remnant. Naomi Cidi, do not think that you have found a solution by sitting in the house and watching TV. The Bible says in Hebrews 10:25-2725 Don't stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near.26 If we make the decision to sin after we receive the knowledge of the truth, there isn't a sacrifice for sins left any longer. 27 There's only a scary expectation of judgment and of a burning fire that's going to devour God's opponents.
