[wanabidii] TEACHERS LEAD IMPUNITY.

In as much as I appreciate the need for Teachers to agitate for a salary increase, I do not support their strike.

You will all remember, teachers have been going on strike for as long as I can remember. During the days of the late Ambrose Adeya Adongo, to the days of Mr. Ng'ang'a to the current lot, it has been the same song. Yet, I want to believe that teachers ought to know it better; you cannot do the same thing the same way every year and expect different results.

Again, you will all remember same time last year, teachers went on strike and paralyzed our education system for a few days. They were called in and given some few crumbs of bread and they went back to work.

If I were the Leader of Knut, I would take advantage of the Constitution and seek for dialogue with the Salaries and Remunerations Commission and table my demands on behalf of the Teachers. I would prove to all and sundry that I am a teacher and I can negotiate for a better deal.

I am one person who does not support the disparities we are exhibiting in our Public Service where the uneducated who find their way into Parliament are paid Millions as they steal others, while, the educated, people who really deserve better pay are left to beg for it every year.

I also do not like the disparities where graduates are being paid so disproportionately. Granted that some Degree Courses deserve better pay, the difference in that pay must reflect on the fact that we are all degree holders.

But calling teachers to strike every September is becoming something that the Kenyan Parent must address. Perharps, we should all arm ourselves with Nyang'unyos and weep these teachers back to class.

We have heard enough of their blackmail as a Country.

A teacher in same job group as someone in main civil service earns less by several thousands. The teachers' strike is justified.

In terms of disobeying court order, I cannot say much. However, someone mentioned to me that county commissioners are still in office despite a court ruling agianst their retention.

Okello,

On the contrary, teachers, doctors, nurses are really really underpaid, unappreciated and under valued kabisa.
I met a lady a friend of mine who is a high school teacher and she told me its just pathetic, can you imagine a teacher with a class of more than 50 pupils in a class taking home a salary of kshs. 25,000/= let me give  you a rough breakdown of expenses of an average Kenyan with 3 kids in a given month: -
1. Rent - 15,000/=
2. Food - 10,000/=
3. Electricity - 2,500/=
4. Water - 2,000/=
5. School Fees - 40,000/= for each kid per year
6. TSC Loan or any Bank Loans deductions - 50,000/= per month
7. Transport - 5,000/=
8. Medical Expenses - ? God knows
etc etc

The government should either increase there salaries, or reduce cost of living in this country or improve conditions in public hospitals etc etc, but im not optimistic that our government can do any of that,

Teachers wakae ngumu

Teachers are insisting they are on strike even after a competent court declared the strike illegal.
In my opinion, this is impunity, and if they don't come back to their senses soon they'll lose the moral authority to guide our children.
Finally, because teachers have refused to serve other kenyans who are equally suffering, maybe we should also refuse to serve them in hospitals, deny them agricultural extension services, banking services, police/security services, sewer services, transport services, etc etc.
