Press Releases: Secretary Kerry Delivers Remarks at the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council 30th Anniversary Gala Reception 09/30/2014 04:34 PM EDT Secretary Kerry Delivers Remarks at the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council 30th Anniversary Gala Reception Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesperson Washington, DC September 30, 2014 Secretary of State John Kerry will deliver remarks at the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council 30th Anniversary Gala reception at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, at the Four Seasons Hotel, 2800 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. The US-ASEAN Business Council is a premier advocacy organization for U.S. industry operating within the dynamic Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, and helps represent major segments of the U.S. private sector in promoting mutually beneficial trade and investment relationships between the United States and Southeast Asia. The U.S.-ASEAN Business Council Gala is a platform to highlight the success of the Obama Administration in strengthening ties with Asia in general and particularly Southeast Asia. An award honoring the Administration’s significant achievements and progress in strengthening the U.S.-ASEAN relationship will be presented at a dinner after the reception, by the Council and accepted by on behalf of the Administration by Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific Affairs Danny Russel. Secretary Kerry will discuss the importance of investing in Southeast Asia, reinforce the economic and political progress that has been made over the last three decades, and highlight how the U.S. can support Southeast Asia’s continued progress toward reaching the goals the region sets for itself. Secretary Kerry’s remarks will be open to the press. The remarks will be streamed live on www.state.gov.
