Dear Colleague,
This month, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) programme assessed the threat of Islamic State and published a new research paper looking at Iran's nuclear future.
Our recent event, held in association with the International New York Times, considered whether Iraq can survive as a nation under the new government.
Also, an expert panel examined the long-term outlook for Gaza following the recent Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire. Building on this analysis, our forthcoming events will include a discussion with Gideon Levy and Yezid Sayigh on the future of the peace process and whether the two-state solution has been dealt a significant setback following recent events in Gaza.
Many thanks for supporting the programme.
Kind Regards,
Helen Twist Manager Middle East and North Africa Programme | | | This panel discussion focusses on the viability of the Iraqi state and the ethnosectarian tensions that seem to be pulling the country toward a renewed civil war. The panellists assess whether the new Iraqi government can prevent the break up of the country, consider what an inclusive political solution would look like and whether international involvement can help defeat Islamic State.
