Re: [wanabidii] Constitutional Authority and Decree Imperatives

Sir, in my opinion, it's like going two steps forward and four backward. There's no better system than where there is coexistence of differences (unity in diversity), where there are checks and balances. 'Unity in uniformity' as we are trying to be creates hypocrisy and simulated politics because only the powerful claim to have the monopoly of truth and wisdom and the rest have only to 'bury their heads in sand' - to live ostrich spirituality. But in political pluralism every person gets space to air their views. The danger I see is to move away from having a more predictable system to the unpredictable one, which depends not on the will of the people, but on the will of the ruling class. T Magobe.

Dear Democrats,

I bet Tanzania is undergoing a socio-political metamorphosis which nobody could ever predict - we all had hunches only! - that it would reach this far, even now!

One wonders whether this is a new era which will require that we revise our theories of constitutionalism, as well as our definitions of decrees! Or are we being introduced to a truly Afrocentric understanding of democracy? Or is it Afro-cracy? Or just ...... you name it!

Kuhn brought the theory of paradigm shifts in the social sciences! Are we Tanzanians incubating a paradigm shift in political science?

Tafakari!
