Much as I respect other people's opinion, but for this I beg to differ with you, Juma Mzuri. The truth is it was a give and take situation. The apartheid regime was finished socially and economically, there was no way out but to succumb to the reality. The so called western supporters of apartheid they could not continue to support the economically and socially inept regime. From their own words the situation had reached a boiling point, as such the apartheid regime will be thrown into Atlantic sea! That was scaring for them, and truth is this was going to be a protracted war between the opposite sides.

"I love and respect the late Nelson Mandela very much, but the truth must be told. There is a possibility that he might have agreed to make concessions to the enemy to become President. 

Let us be logical here. Is it possible for an oppressor, who arrests and jails a freedom fighter for 27 years, to give the Presidency on a platter of gold freely, without cajoling or forcing the jailed freedom fighter to give up his struggle, or to agree to work for the enemy against his own people? 

Let us not forget that the office of the Presidency is the highest political office in the world. Let us also not forget that Mandela was in jail for 27 years, and if he had refused such offer, if offered, he would have died in prison. It could have been that Mandela never envisaged spending his entire life in jail. 

Maybe he was going through so much unbearable misery in prison that he had no choice but to accept the offer. Maybe he agreed to accept the offer, believing he could make a difference in South Africa. Whether this is true or not is left for time to determine.

The world will not know the whole truth about why Mandela was "selected" President by the same oppressive powers he fought against. Also, the world will not know why Mandela, who had a more militant and revolutionary mindset before incarceration, suddenly changed and encouraged Black South Africans to forgive and reconcile with the racist apartheid establishment. 

Now that Mandela is gone, the show still continues. Very little has changed. The majority of Black South Africans continue to remain at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid. Nelson Mandela was a great leader, nonetheless. But if it turns out to be true that he went to bed with the enemy to become President, which would betray his anti-apartheid struggle, then karma will judge."
