[wanabidii] KENYA’S VOTER REGISTER MUST BE RECONSTITUTED AFRESH TO AVOID ANARCHY

Let me start by saying that Kenya's voter register is fatally flawed and unreliable and MUST be reconstituted afresh before the general elections on August 8 if we really want to prevent anarchy later this year. Just that simple. For those of us concerned that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto's stated plans to rule Kenya for 20 years, the alarm bells are ringing now because the fix is in and being gradually and systematically implemented. Time to act is now.

As the country's campaign season heats up, it is clear something ominous and terrible is cooking in Kenya that if unchecked, will result in inevitable national calamity reminiscent of the 2007/2008 Post Election Violence, if not worse. The newly appointed IEBC commission is inheriting a complete mess of a voter register wrought with fraud and manipulation. You cannot pour new wine into old wineskins and as we get new commissioners so must we a start a new register. As an INDEPENDENT commission, this is one area their independence must necessarily be exercised.  For those who follow the campaigns, I am sure you have noticed Deputy President William Ruto's repeated mantra on the campaign stomp that Jubilee will win by 4 Million votes, Ruto has been speaking with such assured confidence as someone who has already counted the votes way before the actual elections, how would he know about Jubilee's win by such never heard of huge margins 8 months before the elections? I tell you how, Ruto indeed has counted the votes just like he did in the Kericho Senatorial by-election and it is all with what appears to be clear collusion between the outgoing commissioners of  the NOT-so Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Jubilee to manipulate the voter register and FIX (rig) the elections, http://mobile.nation.co.ke/news/politics/Raila-Uhuru-ally-behind-voter-fraud/3126390-3795902-50fmmx/index.html .

IEBC Incompetence, discombobulation and dysfunction a national liability

The opposition has valid reasons to be concerned because readily available evidence points to ballots being stuffed as we speak by IEBC and Jubilee as we speak – by inflating the number of voters registered in Jubilee's strongholds in central and Rift Valley by a factor of 15 in some instances so far. And they are right. It is so brazen that even IDs of prominent persons such as Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Former Presidents Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki were not spared. The last revelation by IEBC listed 128, 000 "voters" sharing ID numbers. And I don't trust that figure – I believe it is much higher, probably in the Millions. If you are still wondering why Jubilee MPs fought so hard and euphorically celebrated manual voter counting in the recently passed elections law, wonder no more, it doesn't take too much genius to figure out what's really going on here. This is why, the nexus is very clear and it's upon us to do something to prevent this scheme from morphing into war.

IEBC is supposed to be independent but it is abusing its independence – it hides behind the veil of independence to harm the country. Being Independent is not being the law unto itself nor is it an exemption from following the law or a license to operate outside the law, independence simply means they act without undue influence from outside interests and within the confines of the law, IEBC has failed to live up to these ideals and is a conduit to the country's race to self-destruction.

That IEBC is incompetent, discombobulated and dysfunctional cannot be gainsaid –as a disenfranchised Diaspora, I know it first-hand. It has been rudderless for several months now and functioning with moribund commissioners many of whom have an axe to grind against Raila Odinga for orchestrating their ouster. It is believed majority of the voter register data manipulation shenanigans took place during the transition between the outgoing and incoming commissioners. It would be the ultimate revenge against Raila Odinga deny him electoral victory and leave him with no avenue of any recourse. The incoming commissioners, themselves novices, inherited a compromised voter register and when hell breaks loose in August and the blame games begin, they will be spared because they really have very little to do with the current voter and that's why we need a completely NEW voter register.

When all else fails, Blame it on AL Shabaab

Among the arguments the "Digital" Jubilee made at the time was that Somali's ragtag militia, Al Shabaab, will infiltrate the voter system and steal the elections. Weeks later, Al Shabaab raided a Kenyan Military camp in Somalia, kills tens of soldier as they have done multiple times before but just days later, as if to illustrate the point -according to Jubilee that is, Al Shabaab raided an Administration Police (AP) camp in Mandera at night, kissed the police goodnight, hurt nobody much less kill, and just simply stole BVR kits! http://www.nation.co.ke/news/kibaki-moi-names-used-register-people-vote/1056-3797674-ji21ta/index.html . Can you believe that?. This is the kind of chicanery that Jubilee has relegated itself to, a very poorly stage managed rendezvous to fool the public into believing that they are justified in their brazen attempts to steal the elections. My point is the Jubilee Regime insults Kenyans intelligence and takes them to be fools it can manipulate, that is what we have to watch for this coming August folks. IEBC is complicit in this scam, it is aiding and abetting vote rigging, and get this – IEBC chief executive just last week told the public to take steps to correct the voter register, how? How is a voter to know that IEBC has manipulated his/her record and used their ID to create 10, 15 fictitious voters in the register? Time to end this is NOW.

Predictive Elections outcome & Consequences

Let me first say that I am NOT a Raila Odinga supporter, I don't want Raila to win or anywhere near the presidency but I don't want him to be robbed of victory either, and the way this is going it is clear that elections will be rigged and anarchy will erupt. So it is NOT Al Shabaab we should be worried about, oh no – it is Jubilee and IEBC. What I am predicting is common sense that anyone can easily foretell because we have seen this movie before. The signs are self-evident, we have witnessed incendiary rhetoric from both sides with respect to this issue, President Kenyatta has flexed his muscles by equipping the Police with Military equipment that he has openly flaunted in the streets of Nairobi as someone clearly prepping for war, and maybe he is because If we continue this path we are on, it is very likely that the country will once again go to war against itself come August 9th, 2017. Most likely scenario is straight forward – elections will be stolen as we see it happening, "losers" will arm themselves and their supporters and take to the streets in protest, the illicit government will respond in the guise of restoring "law & Order" and anarchy descends, unfortunately lives will be lost, that simple.

Foreign Intervention:

Raila Odinga is by nature a provocateur and knows very well that this is an opportunity waiting to be exploited, it is a low hanging fruit and if Kenyatta and Ruto take the bait by deploying excessive force against protesters, the prospect of ICC indictments are not just very well within the realm of possibilities but almost inevitable. As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti, Odinga will call on the international community and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to step in, and majority in the nation will support him on this. Odinga's big advantage is that President Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto are ICC alumni who got away with murder and are by default marked men already as it is – there is a world inside and outside Kenya aching to punish them, one wrong move and it will trigger a whirlwind of activities against the duo to make a good example out of them.

 Again the ONLY remedy is to avoid all these through credible, open and free elections. That starts with a completely new voter register that restores public confidence in the process and preserves the integrity of the vote.
