[wanabidii] Re: [PK] Blind Date is Father-in-Law !!!!!!

Rose,

In Luo language the sorts of things you're describing are referred to as Dwanyrok. Dwanyrok means doing something so despicable, so wrong, so embarrassing that one might just consider it a sin.

In our culture, a lot of those things are not allowed. But as more and more of our people reside in Nairobi and other major urban areas, they mix with other communities and adopt some of the Dwanyrok from those communities.

Courage

Very interesting. And it is happening everywhere. Some of these issues have brought down marriages especially where the daughter in law refuses the advances from the father in law.

Rose,

Let me tell you a story that has become a folklore in Ugenya and was even documented in a song. The song's title is: Maro oketho Ugunja (the mother-in-law messed up in Ugunja Town).

This guy, about 40, met a young girl in Nairobi. She was about 25 and they fell in love with each other and planned to get married to each other. But before that, the man had to come with his friends/relatives to meet his in-laws in Ugenya, near Ugunja Town. The obligatory introduction  -  getting to know each other.

They were to be at the in-laws' at 9 am on a Saturday so they decided to travel the day before (Friday) and spend the night in a lodging in Ugunja. Ugunja Town is very vibrant with all-night bars and restaurants. So the group of 10 decided to partake in the fun that Friday night. They enjoyed themselves until about 12 midnight and then some of them decided to engage the services of the local Sexcare Providers who were all over the place in Ugunja and in these bars.

Our main character, the groom, found himself a very attractive 45 yr-old Sexcare Provider who looked 30-35. She had maintained her body and face very well. They spent the night together in his lodging room and she woke up and left at 6am to go home.

Now 9am comes about and the group of 10 arrive at the in-laws' village. They are welcome by a team of in-laws plus his intended bride. The bride introduces her mom to him.

Oh my God !!!! Mtume !!!  That is the women he spent last night with !!!!

They looked at each other and none of them said a word. They just played along with the activities of the day. No one in the village including the bride knew about the "events of Friday night".

Anyway, I don't know what happened in the end but by Luo culture, he would not be allowed to marry the girl now if he's already slept with her mother. But then again, these people live in Nairobi so maybe they don't care about such traditions anymore.

This story inspired a song, Maro oketho Ugunja - The mother-in-law messed up in Ugunja.

Tinda; tinda adong arom g'olwa man i tok ka nera, tinda.

Courage,
Oduor Maurice Wod Ugenya Ukwala

This should serve as a learning lesson. Get to talk to your prospective internet lovers before you agree to meet them in person. At worst, you may be romancing your own spouse on the net. Wouldn't that be interesting?

Crazy world: Woman's blind date turns out to be her father-in-law, husband is not happy

Updated Saturday, October 26th 2013 at 14:08 GMT +3

Lili got the shock of her life when she found out her mystery date was her father-in-law (Picture: CEN)

The last thing you need when planning to cheat on your husband with a mystery man is for the guy to turn out to be his dad.
That's what reportedly happened when Lili went on a secret rendezvous in Heilongjiang province, north-east China, with a man she had met on the internet.
Little did the 28-year-old know she had arranged a blind date with her father in law, Wang Pai, after they had both used false identities.
As if things couldn't get any worse, it transpired the unfaithful wife had been followed to the hotel location by her husband, and the man's son, Wang Jai.
When she rang the doorbell to the room while in her pink bathrobe and the dad answered, Mr Jai went berserk and started to assault both of them.
Mr Pai, 57, spoke of his surprise at finding out his secret date was his daughter in law.
He said: 'We eventually agreed to meet for a romantic liaison, but when I opened the door I don't know if she was more surprised or me.
'She turned round and ran off down the hallway straight into her husband, my son, who had been following her.'
The husband was detained for five days after knocking out two of his wife's teeth and causing his father to be taken to hospital with a head injury.
