Secretary of State John Kerry will provide opening remarks at a dinner in honor of the 10th annual Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, at the Department of State. This public-private partnership, conducted annually in coordination with Vital Voices Global Partnership, connects international women leaders with Fortune’s Most Powerful Women to encourage the next generation of women to bring positive change to their companies and communities. During the program, mentors from Fortune’s Most Powerful Women community share their time, talent, and expertise in business and leadership with the international women leaders. Mentees, in turn, share best practices, develop organizational and management skills, and cultivate long-lasting relationships. The program supports the State Department’s goal to empower women by providing them with the skills and experience to become leaders in their businesses, communities, and countries. This year’s class of emerging-leader mentees includes women from Argentina, China, Egypt, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Ukraine, Uruguay, and Zimbabwe. The April 29 dinner will also feature remarks by Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan and Fortune Senior Editor-at-Large Pattie Sellers. This event will be open to credentialed members of the media and livestreamed at www.state.gov. Join the conversation online with #EmpowerWomen and #FortuneMPW.
