These volumes cover events that took place between 1948 and 1951 and wereoriginally published in print between 1973 and 1998: Foreign Relations of the United States, 1948 1. General; the United Nations, Volume I, Part 1 2. General; the United Nations, Volume I, Part 2 3. Germany and Austria, Volume II 4. Western Europe, Volume III 5. The Near East, South Asia, and Africa, Volume V, Part 1 6. The Near East, South Asia, and Africa, Volume V, Part 2 7. The Far East: China, Volume VII Foreign Relations of the United States, 1949 1. National Security Affairs, Foreign Economic Policy, Volume I 2. The United Nations; The Western Hemisphere, Volume II 3. Council of Foreign Ministers; Germany and Austria, Volume III 4. Western Europe, Volume IV 5. Eastern Europe; The Soviet Union, Volume V 6. The Near East, South Asia, and Africa, Volume VI 7. The Far East and Australasia, Volume VII, Part 1 8. The Far East and Australasia, Volume VII, Part 2 9. The Far East: China, Volume VIII Foreign Relations of the United States, 1950 1. National Security Affairs; Foreign Economic Policy, Volume I 2. The United Nations; The Western Hemisphere, Volume II 3. Western Europe, Volume III Foreign Relations of the United States, 1951 1. National Security Affairs; Foreign Economic Policy, Volume I Today's release is part of the Office of the Historian's ongoing project, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin Digital Collections Center, to digitize the entire Foreign Relations series. The University graciously provided high quality scanned images of each printed book, which the Office further digitized to create a full text searchable edition. These volumes are available online and as free ebooks at the Office of the Historian's website (http://history.state.gov/historicaldocuments). This is the first in a series of quarterly releases, which will continue until the FRUS digital archive is complete.
