Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation Thomas M. Countryman will travel to Qatar, Germany and the UK for meetings with counterparts March 2-6. On March 2, A/S Countryman will visit Doha, Qatar and deliver remarks on strengthening the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) at NATO’s annual nonproliferation conference. On March 4-5, the Assistant Secretary will travel to Hamburg, Germany to serve as the U.S. Representative to the G-7 Nonproliferation Directors Group (NPDG) meeting. He and NPDG members will also meet with counter-proliferation experts and tour the Port of Hamburg. On March 6, A/S Countryman will address the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London with on-the-record remarks about the U.S. approach to the NPT Review Conference, which begins in New York on April 27.
