New wing to resolve taxpayers' complaints
Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has created a new wing in the income tax department to exclusively deal with taxpayers' grievances and complaints related to delay in issue of refunds and problems in filing tax returns among others

Government waives penalty, interest on pending tax disputes
In order to soothe nerves of foreign investors, the government on Monday offered one-time settlement of cases emanating from retrospective amendment of tax laws, by asking companies to pay the basic tax demand and get waiver for interest and penalty.

PSUs to monetise idle assets; disinvestment department renamed
"We have to leverage the assets of CPSEs for generation of resources for investment in new projects. We will encourage CPSEs to divest individual assets like land, manufacturing unit to release their asset value for making investments in new projects," Jaitley said in his Budget 2016-17 speech.
