National Constitution Day celebrations continue
CHANDIGARH: The celebration of the National Constitution Day continued in many city schools and colleges on Friday. At Hansraj Public School Panchkula Talks were given to apprise the students about the Constitution and its importance. Poster making competition was organised for the students, which was adjudged by the Principal. An Oath was administered to the students by the Principal. The students gave speeches on the basic philosophy and fundamental values on which the Constitution was framed. "The constitution of India is framed to provide for smooth functioning of the nation. It is a document which every citizen holds in high esteem and respect. Celebrating this day is an opportunity I take to inculcate the values incorporated in it among my students. Each Hansarian is an ambassador of hope, secularism and democracy and it is very important that the young minds are trained to be the torch bearers for the same. Rights are followed by Duties and our students should understand and practise the same", said Principal Jaya Bhardwaj while addressing the students. At Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School, Sector 38 a special assembly was conducted in the morning to educate the students about the significance of Constitution Day. Kirti and Yashvi of class X highlighted the main features of Indian Constitution. The students were informed that the constitution lays down the basic structure of the government under which its people are to be governed. A constitution is superior to all the laws of the country. Harsh stated the significance of preamble; He told students that the soul of Indian Constitution is reflected in the Preamble.The terms sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic, republic in the preamble suggest the nature of the state. The ideals of justice, liberty, equality, fraternity reflect the objectives of the constitution. The assembly concluded with the Pledge by reciting the Preamble to the Constitution. A poster making competition was also organised for students of classes VI - X to illustrate the messages contained in the Preamble to the Indian constitution. The winners were awarded certificates. The NSS Wing in collaboration with Student Welfare Committee of the Guru Gobind Singh College for Women in sector 26, Chandigarh celebrated First Constitution Day to mark the anniversary of adoption of the Indian Constitution. The programme began with an oath taking ceremony by the volunteers followed by a theme based quiz. A short video “Sanvidhaan – The making of the constitution of India” was screened for the students and NSS volunteer Sukriti Chaturvedi presented a powerpoint presentation. Principal Charanjit Kaur Sohi, applauded the efforts of the students and encouraged their enthusiasm.
