Dear Colleague:
The International Conference on African Entrepreneurship and Small Business development (ICAESB) is an annual event which is organized by the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS). This follows the fact that the School recognizes the importance of promoting Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, consistent with the national agenda that seeks to promote a sustainable private sector. In that respect, the UDBS has set its research agenda on "entrepreneurship, private sector and sustainable development" given their importance in contributing to poverty alleviation in this nation.

This year the conference will be held from 29th to 30th May 2014 at White sands Hotel, in Dar es Salaam. The conference's theme is "Globalization and Sustainability of SMEs in Emerging Economies".  It has attracted around 150 participants from various countries including Tanzania, Denmark, Norway the Netherlands, South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, and Sweden. The Guest of Honor to grace the official opening of the conference is the Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr. Abdallah Kigoda.

The conference provides a unique international forum and an opportunity for local and international researchers, policy makers and business managers to exchange views, share experiences, and disseminate research findings and practical lessons in the areas of small business and entrepreneurship development.

In terms of deliberations, over 30 scientific and practitioner/industry papers will be presented in the two days. On addressing issues related to its theme, the conference is expected to cover a number of sub-themes including: Global strategies for SMEs; Sustainability of SMEs in developing countries; localization and domestic growth of SMEs; financing and SMEs; growth information and communication technology and SMEs development; SMEs and the energy sector; researching SMEs; and various cross-cutting issues.
