[wanabidii] Re: (VVM Forum) Re: [PK] Re: [KOL] Dr. Alfred Mutua may overtake Kalonzo by 2018

Evans,

As a Government Spokesperson, Mutua was mouthing off someone else's words. But now he's doing his own thing. We can only judge him by what he's doing now. This is now the real him.

Courage

We need the road path of Dr.Mutua for making leadership in Kenya than cases of muscle of numbers.

While in the government as a Government spokesman, Dr.Mutua was never liked. Perhaps we need leaders to be independent to bring out their worth so as to gauge them for National assignments.

Devolution is the best thing in Kenya for not only devolving resources but producing the likes of Mutua for possible higher things in future.

i see that even in many churches. You bring in someone to preach and all they talk about is themselves.Guess who gets the beatings?

Pastor,

I agree with you. Too much education makes people verbose. They feel they have to explain everything when all the electorate wants to hear is what you're going to do.

A few years ago we had 2 candidates here vying for the nomination of the Liberal Party leadership. They both supported the reduction of our Goods and Services Tax (equivalent to Kenya's VAT).

One told the party delegate:
"I will reduce the GST so parents can have more money left in their pockets to at least take the kids out on weekends for Pizza"

The other said:
"Reducing the GST is an essential step to narrow this worrying economic gap that has been negating the  goals of the economic blueprint that was passed in our Sessional Paper # 27 at our party congress in 1993. We must endeavour to coopt a potential economic class struggle"

Guess which candidate got the big applause and the votes?  Yes, the first one. He communicated effectively i.e. in a language that the audience identified with. He told them what he was going to do and one potential benefit of that action. He did not bother telling them the WHY of his decision.

Courage

Will I be wrong if I say that that is what too much education does? There are very few educated people who are able to bring themselves to the level of the common people. They must do everything to sound intellectual. But wait, can we blame them?

Mutua is walking right down the middle; trying to sound hip and casual but also fairly focused and intellectualizing the things he does. He always feel he has to provide the intellectual explanation of everything he does.

That is true but things change when you put the person in office and he does the opposite. For example, Kiambu had Kabogo, a waititu kind of thug Vs a former USAID chief, an intellectual closer to Kidero and talked Kidero/Mbaru stuff.

Now if Kabogo can be thuggish and does Mutua kind of stuff, he gets double points and will win and win. So Kidero must be populist and deliver. I think Mutua is striding on both sides of the coin (remember his jokes?)

KM,

But Waititu is the kind of guy I can see making time to meet me for a beer and nyama choma in Muthurwa. Kidero would be too busy with conferences, seminars, workshops, retreats, thinktanks, etc and strategic plans and that kind of nonsense.

I can see Waititu saying, "Let's clean this river" . And the following Saturday it's being cleaned.

while

Kidero is saying, "Let's commission a strategic plan to explore the viability of possibly de-sedimenting this waterway. The plan will be further discussed at the end-of-year conference"

I'm sorry but Waititu's version sounds better to me.

Mwangi wa maziwa (Iria) of Murang'a seem to be doing well and has done some very innovative stuff too but he never get the limelight. Others like Kabogo are busy working on ways of raising taxes including taxing the dead.

I am sure some in ODM may not want to hear what you say about Kidero but I see him as a person who will get the Sonko votes, i.e votes from across the political divide and he comes out as one fellow who is a good CEO. I am glad that Nairobians rejected Waititu because we would be counting disaster after disaster. Kidero is the type of Governors we need.

Oduor,

The next president will come from the crop of Governors and also Senators, governors though have an upper hand as they have budgets from which to show tangible development.

I see the caliber of Governors Dr. Alfred Mutua of Machakos, Dr. Kidero of Nairobi, Cyprian Awiti of Homa Bay, Nderitu Gachagua of Nyeri. Senator Murkomen started off promising but sycophancy caught up with him. Hassan Omar looks promising too among others.Even Martha Karua would have gone for Governorship.

It is true Peter Kenneth wasted himself and the same can be said of Prof Ole Kiyiapi who would have run for governor of Narok. They would be showcasing themselves now.

Sungu.

At  this rate, by 2018, Dr. Alfred Mutua may just have a stellar record and overtake Kalonzo as the Great Kamba Hope for the presidency in 2018. Kalonzo better start engaging in some development projects soon in order to maintain his visibility and relevance.

I honestly believe that the next generation of presidents will be coming from the crop of governors. Why? Because the governors will have tangible development records to show.

Which reminds me that Peter Kenneth made a terrible mistake not to run for Murang'a Governor. That would have placed him well to run for the presidency in 2018.

Here, Mutua speaks at the launching of Machakos City.
