[wanabidii] The lucky ones

Dear Wanabidii,

Friends like you are helping us save the black rhino from the brink of extinction.

This critically endangered species is enduring with our close monitoring – in fact, last year we were able to report a poaching rate of zero at The Great Fish River Nature Reserve in South Africa due to our efforts.

Yes, this is one success story – but we need to remain vigilant. Poachers will stop at nothing to make a profit off these animals, and they are backed by powerful and sophisticated crime syndicates.

Please make a donation today. Your support strengthens our ability to track and protect threatened African species and apply our proven anti-poaching methods to other key regions.

Put simply, when you take action, we get results. I urge you to read Patrick's message below about our 3-part plan to fight poaching. Then pledge your support to protect Africa’s wildlife.

Thank you,
Philip Muruthi, PhD
Senior Director of Conservation Science

Join the fight to save Africa's wildlife

Dear Wanabidii,

Stop the killing. Stop the trafficking. Stop the demand. It's our three-part plan to end poaching for good – and we need you to be its driving force.

Make your most generous donation to African Wildlife Foundation now. The future of Africa's most precious species depends on it.

We have created an emergency response fund for anti-poaching projects in three areas:

    •   Stop the killing: Supporting rangers and scouts with tactical training and field equipment and helping expand their ranks in key wildlife areas.
    •   Stop the trafficking: Providing law enforcement agencies with sniffer dogs to screen cargo for wildlife products and training prosecutors and judges on wildlife laws.
    •   Stop the demand: Expanding our wildly successful awareness campaigns into new markets in China, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Wanabidii, we have the expertise and the determination to save Africa's critically endangered species. Your support today will put the wheels in motion.

Elephants, rhinos, and many other species in Africa are facing a crisis where the rate of illegal killing has surpassed the rate of natural births. We may lose these magnificent creatures within a generation.

I'd call that an emergency, wouldn't you?

Please make an urgent donation to AWF now. We know this plan can help Africa's wildlife thrive again. But we must act now.

Sincerely,
Patrick Bergin
Chief Executive Officer

P.S. Wanabidii, I am not exaggerating when I say that we are at a crossroads – we can either do something to save elephants, rhinos, and other African species now or we will watch them disappear. If you believe these creatures deserve a future, please give now.
