[wanabidii] Yes get us african domain but call it dot AF

That we should have an African top level domain like the popular dot com and dot org domain is
not in much dispute. Our own Kenyan national dot co.ke has done quite well by its own standards.

However. We know that online business work better when they target a wider geographical region
for the simple explanation thus; Online presence aims to cross national barriers and make a business
global.

So it goes without saying that an african domain, of which i strongly suggest dot AF is what africans
should be advocating for. The institutions uniForum that is pushing for  dot Africa and the other
dotconnectAfrica that is pushing for, and god forgive them, dot (and dot again) Africa, are to be
commended for knowing the direction but must be guided back to the world of simplicity.

According to uniForum a company called XYZ would have their domain names reading xyz.Africa
and a common email would be info@xyz.africa. Not bad. However Africa is too long and is better
to work with abbreviations like we have dot eu or dot us . By which our XYZ company domain
name now would be xyz.af with a sample email address of info@xyz.af

The dotconnectafrica suggestion for the same XYZ company would come out with a ridiculous
composition. The company domain name would be xyz.dotAfrica. That extra dot can only
belong to someone who has no sense of naming domains. And the sample email would be
info@xyz.dotAfrica. Again the double dot!

My appeal to the two leader companies  championing for an an african gTLD is to compromise
and push for dot AF. The dot AF is simple, catchy and representative. I can hardly wait to get
my hands onto www.kamakia.af and be released to be the african that I am.
