Acting President and the man who has glued Zambia together in the build up to today's watershed election Dr. Guy Scott paid a surprise visit to clothing store Mr. Price in Lusaka after he received reports workers had been dens-franchised.
The Acting President, who had issued a directive to all employers countrywide to allow their workforce to participate in todays election walked through the store much to the surprise of management.
But one of Mr Price senior personnel refuted the claims that their workers have been stopped from voting.
He explained that the first group went to cast their votes and the rest will go at 14 hrs
Here Dr. Scott casts his ballot.

As the Campaign period for the forthcoming presidential by- election comes to an end today, 19th January, 2015 at 18:00 hours, all political parties taking part in the election are advised to stop all campaign activities as provided for in the Electoral Act and Electoral Code of Conduct.
Immediately after 18:00 hours today, all campaign activities will be treated as illegal and all those that will be found campaigning will be arrested and charged accordingly.
We will be on the look out for people who will attempt to disrupt the electoral process or any procedure that may follow there after such as the inauguration ceremony.
As police we will remain vigilant and we are not going to allow anyone to destabilize peace in whatever manner at any stage of the election. We have placed both uniformed and plain clothed police officers in strategic places to prevent such plans from being executed.
We are further reminding the general public that carrying of offensive weapons in public is an offense and anyone found wanting will be arrested. Officers have been directed to conduct random searches on persons and motor vehicles which they suspect to be carrying offensive weapons.
We call upon all political players to continue preaching messages of peace and discourage acts of violence which have potential to breed anarchy.
We are re-assuring members of the public of their safety throughout the election period and we are urging them to report all persons or groupings conducting themselves in a manner that may lead to the breach of peace to officers nearest to them.
I also want to warn persons who want to take advantage of the situation to obtain police uniform for use as security officials during the polls day that the police will not hesitate to arrest them as this is an offense under section 6(1)(a) of Cap 111 of the laws of Zambia.

We have not just kept to the towns and urban areas, and we have not just campaigned to those who are already part of our established support base. Rather, we have tirelessly continued on the campaign route so as to deliver our message to as many Zambians as possible in person, so that they can make an informed decision on 20 January 2015.
We have been making the most of every minute available to us to campaign, just as we intend to use every minute available to us to deliver for the Zambian people if elected to State House.
Our campaign travels have reinforced to us that many of the issues facing Zambians across the country are the same: the high cost of living, limited employment opportunities, inadequate and costly education and healthcare, and the source of these problems - a lack of leadership and vision. We propose to address these challenges with the upmost urgency.
In delivering our message to Zambians across the country over the past ten weeks, the foundation of everything we have championed has been national unity and moving forward together. Do not let those who seek to distract us from the real issues with talk of divisive matters such as tribalism succeed. We know that only by working together can we deliver truly transformative change for Zambians, regardless of their age, gender or tribe. This is the very reason why we have opened our arms to all Zambians during the campaign.
When we have been sharing our vision, whether at public debates in Lusaka, rallies in Chipata, radio interviews in Kasama, or market tours in Chingola, we have been talking not about delivering change for one province or another, or one tribe or another. We have been talking about delivering change for the farmers who have not been paid and are struggling to afford inputs for next season, for the nurses that work in tough conditions and were unceremoniously sacked, for the students who cannot afford to go to university or even school, and for every Zambian who is suffering from the consequences of failed leadership.
Ultimately we respect that the choice is with the Zambian people on 20 January 2015.

Hakainde Hichilema again demonstrated tonight why he should be elected Zambia's next President: he is the candidate with the right combination of vision, expertise, and leadership qualities to move Zambia forward.
Speaking directly to the people he hopes to serve, Mr. Hichilema summarised his campaign platform by saying: "We are seeking to address the paradox of poor people in a rich country. I know that in the past our leadership has failed us but we can realise that potential and that is why we are seeking office". He later explained why voters should cast their vote for Hakainde Hichilema on 20 January 2015: "If you are sick you go to a doctor, if your car is broken you go to a mechanic, and if the economy is sick you need to go to an economic manager".
It is the message of national unity and moving forward that we will continue to bring across the country in the final days of this campaign.
He once again stressed the importance of education stating "Education is the best investment. It is the best equaliser. It is the best heritage." Explaining "Education breeds the skills we need to develop the economy".
On job creation Mr Hichilema explained the UPND approach saying "We will create jobs by supporting businesses, Zambian businesses, to not only survive but to grow and create job opportunities for the Zambian people". While saying of economic management that 'It is very important for those of us seeking public office to think in a way that is connected because the economy is interconnected".
We are extremely disappointed that PF President Edgar Lungu decided that he could not be bothered to show up for this debate. Those who seek to hold offices of power and responsibility should not be afraid to engage in respectful discussion, and have their positions exposed and challenged. With that said, we are not surprised that Mr. Lungu chose to hide rather than defend the PF's record of broken promises in front of a national audience. It is yet another example in a pattern of absence and avoidance that has plagued the PF government since day one. Fortunately for the Zambian people, those days will come to an end on 20 January 2015.
On behalf of Mr. Hichilema and the UPND, I want to thank Muvi TV and Hot FM for organising the debate as well as Dr. Mumba, Ms. Nawakwi, Mr. Chipimo and Mr. Sinkamba for their participation. To the people of Zambia, a new journey awaits us all with Hakainde Hichilema as President. We hope to earn your vote on Tuesday 20 January 2015.

The United National Independence Party (UNIP) this evening resurrected a little hope of bouncing back to power after Tilyenji Kaunda put up a stunning performance among his competitors.
Tilyenji, son to Zambia's founding President Kenneth Kaunda proved against all odds that the death of UNIP may have been highly exaggerated.
Kaunda was often calm and collected whilst providing short and concise answers and explainations as to what UNIP will do when voted in power.
Comrade Eric Chanda of the 4th Revolution however lost everyone in translation with his vehement anti-western rhetoric.
He often attempted to mimic late President Micheal Sata's trademark voice and occasionally came out imitating Julius Malema, the EFF leader in South Africa.
At one point, Chanda even interrupted Tilyenji Kaunda with an outburst of "you greedy generation" something that drew murmurs from the audience.
Chanda's style protrayed him to be a loose canon who would double as a political clown.
The race to Plot One seems to have produced a free cure for HIV/AIDS. Well that is if Dr. Ludwig Sondashi will sail through to State House.
The former governmemt Minister at times appeared impatient and often reminded host Costa Mwansa of just how little the time he was allocated.
Although Sondashi seemed to have had the ideas, explaining them clearly was a rather painful process as his speech was often jumbled up without giving clear outlines for example on how he would implement his plan of a nationwide agricultural policy.
Dr. Dan Pule of the CDP was the other man to marvel at this evening as he demonstrated his accountancy experience will definately not fail him.
Pule often came out intelligent by providing detailed plans of what he would like to achieve as President.
His Christian faith was also one of the biggest features in his speech.
But Pule's donning of a hat throughout the debate was something the audience occasionally whispered about. Others contended it made the eloquent man of the pulpit with a husky voice look like "Pimp".
He occasionally got into some witty rivalries with Dr. Ludwig Sondashi.

We will work on the basis of what is necessary and what is advantageous for the Zambian people and the region.
