Oh!!!
Kenya Government and Ministry of Education need to do better than this. What is said below does not add to any improvement in education standards. Education is a necessity NOT financial driven as I am learning from the content of the letter. Ministry of Education should not use Teachers in Kenya to raise Funds from Parents by creating unfounded reasons. Also Schools are to teach children to grow-up to be successful Citizens and the Teachers are trained to do that. There is NO need for taxing Parents to visit Schools every week. Parents can Schools should have one Parent's meeting once a Term with individual Parent's visits at times of need and necessary.
The World has lots of challenges and Parents face them, so it is unrealistic to create unnecessary commitment in Schools for Parent which Teachers are trained and paid to do.

Bloggers;
Our society has gone to the dogs! They say you got no
respite fighting a pig; you lose either way , whether from
the fight or the murk which wallows in a pig
sty.
Heads of Kenyan schools have become despots. Parents
are dictated and bullied at their whim. They increase fees
for any cause , imagined and laughable. Oh the generator
broke down and we need a new one , or the new bus we just
bought by raising school fees need new tires , we are going
to an academic tour in Kaya Bombo in Malindi , or games kit
fee needed in third term. To add insult to injury , then
there is the MANDATORY THREE Parents' visits to the
schools per term. Most of these adhoc a must visit are on
Fridays and if a parent does not visit , then the child is
sent home , Jeez! WHAT for? When do
these parents work and at the same time occupy space in
your schools.
Kenyans are a very passive lot. No wonder our
politicians are shitting on us and we thank them for having
a very healthy bowel movement. Why should parents , after
working so hard to put their children into school be
required to be administrative assistants to these schools?
Why don't teachers do what they are paid to do , TEACH our
kids and adjust the curriculum as needed to meet the needs
of the learners? Why should parents , some of them
illiterate be subjected to discussing Individualized
Curriculum Goals for their kids every term?
Teachers , we are tired of Fiefdoms! These children
are not eggs to be cajoled and spoiled yet the real world is
not so forgiving. These children need to know that the world
is full of disappointments at an early age to grow up into
diverse and well rounded adults. Stop these mandatory
visitations. Stop overburdening parents. Last time I checked
, my parents did not even know the name of the high school I
attended. They just said "Onyango somo e piny jo
rabuon"; Kangaru was a name they forgot the moment it left
my mouth. I went to school for 6 years , and for six years ,
I never saw my mother or father visit my school and I turned
out just okay , I think. The only time my parents
visited my school was on December 8th 1988 when
I graduated from Kenyatta University and Oloo Aringo was
singing "Prince of Peace"
Parents stand up against this
Oligarchy!!!
Afwande!!
