Yea, I agree Geoff.
Sen. Joseph McCarthy's negative theorists made him very unpopular in the 1950s. As a Republican, he witch-hunt those he disagreed with attempts to intimidate, and expel them from government employment, yet he was not able to defend his wild allegations many times. He fiercely fought the members of Communist Party and in every turn of events, branded them with his sensational conspiracy charges.
I am happy Secretary Sibelius was able to stand tall and defend herself. Calling Sibelius to resign is laughable, he ought to have called speaker John Boehner instead to resign for Peoples Government Shutdown, that was unnecessary and where the Country as a result lost in terms of peoples income loses and hardship, and from lack of public service deliverables, loss of huge sums for revenues collections, small business loses, lowering the country's value and financial standing with dignity it commands in the world credit worthiness which eventually affected the economy in billions of loses is unacceptable.
People must wake up and stand to defend their cause in Peoples Government and with leaders to whom they elect as custodians in trust to protect peoples interests. Wrong choices have consequences as people's peace and happiness is under risk with chances of being compromised, and this is not what people want.
People must stand for the truth and justice and have their voices heard and this will help take care of wrong attitudes that add no value to unity of people in harmony to live a happy and peaceful life in diversity without civil strife and pent-up animosity.........and the fact is, we need each other, wether black or white..........something special is in each one of us; if put together, we have a wonderful resourceful world together..............and we must nurture that atmosphere for the sake of unity, love, peace and happiness..................

Judy,
I am being informed Ted Cruz is the new Sen McCarty in town. In the 21st Century, will he pull off his fear-mongering? Somebody once said here that some people are only alive because the law does not allow for their shooting; Ted Cruz fits that bill to tee!

My fellow Americans,
Ted Cruz is sinking under political troubled waters he dived into and dint have exit plan how to get out of the tide that is too high he does not know how to navigate from political deep waters........since some of these lobby mission in the circumstance, could turn desperate and dangerously insecure for Peoples Government projects that must engage in service to the people, where in every turn of event, Ted Cruz mouth spells trouble instead. Out on leave for a breather would help him recuperate and get some reality check……..
I am saddened that, Ted Cruz is drifting too far out of order that is expected of a lawmaker. He need to reconsider and refrain from hyperbolic approach that are not healthy and may severely put the country in a disadvantaged position. He must preach peace and unity for common good of all and engage maturely in constructive debate to negotiate his interest rather than confrontational.
However, what is true is that, Obamacare is the law of the Country and it seems to be on track from the hitch which is viewed as teething headaches that are expected but will be up and about like every other law in a few weeks if not months depending on how it will maneuvre and succumb hurdles that are on its way………..
These are extra-ordinary times where Americans are sick and tired from being sick and tired of politicians malingering and failing to engage responsibly with integrity and to concentrate on delivering mandated obligation for which they earn to facilitate peoples Government operations, politicians are bound to get the heat.
They are either relevant to peoples need or they are not; which side will they choose to butter their bread when people are looking???

Sebelius: 'I Don't Work For' People Who Want Me to Resign
October 25, 2013Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius responded moments ago to questions about whether she will resign in the wake of the Affordable Care Act's problematic rollout. Her response is raising some eyebrows.
"My goal is to actually get the website up and running," she told reporters. "The majority of people calling for me to resign I would say are people who I don't work for and who do not want this program to work in the first place. I have had frequent conversations with the president and I have committed to him that my role is to get the program up and running and we will do just that."
A group of 33 House Republicans on Wednesday sent a letter to President Obama calling for her resignation. "The scope of the problem is so great that, were this a private company or military command, the CEO or general would have been fired," they wrote. "We are, therefore, calling on you to hold Secretary Sebelius accountable for the fiasco that is HealthCare.gov and ask for her resignation."

Ted Cruz Angers Nigerian-Americans With Obamacare Remarks
Friday October 25 2013
ABC By Dana Hughes 9 hours ago
Sen. Ted Cruz's sense of humor is earning him some ill will from near and far.
A Nigerian-American organization wants the Texas Republican to apologize for comments he made Monday about the problems with the Affordable Care Act website.
"You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately," Cruz said at a gathering with supporters in Houston, according to the Houston Chronicle.
"They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website," he joked.
But the Christian Association of Nigerian-Americans, also known as CANAN, isn't laughing. The group blasted Cruz, calling his comments distasteful and disparaging.
"Cruz has maligned all hardworking, decent and outstanding Nigerian-Americans who add value and bring goodwill to their different communities, especially in Texas, with the largest concentration of Nigerian-Americans in this country," the group said in a statement released Thursday.
And that's not the only place where Cruz's joke fell flat.
The Nigerian ambassador to the United States also wants an apology from the senator.
Ambassador Ade Adefuye told POLITICO that Nigerians are "disappointed and shocked" by Cruz's comments.
"We deplore the statement, and we demand an apology, and we demand it be withdrawn," Adefuye said.
CANAN maintains that despite the stereotype of Nigerians running email scams and being corrupt, the Nigerian-American community is one of the most educated and successful immigrant communities in the United States, with more than 17% of Nigerian-American immigrants holding a master's degree or higher, according to U.S. Census numbers.
The group wants Cruz to issue a formal apology for his remarks.
"We consider it an insult that a senator who should be representing the people of his state could turn against some of his very own constituents in what is clearly a reckless and offensive remark," CANAN said.
This is not the first time Sen. Cruz has offended an ethnic community with his comments. Last month, Cruz angered a group of Filipino vets after tying his 21 hour speech against Obamacare to the "Bataan death march."
Towards the end of his marathon speech, Cruz said he wanted "to thank the men and women who have endured this, this Bataan Death March."
Cruz later met with a group of Filipino vets to apologize for his statement.
"I apologize for causing offense," Cruz said. "I should not have said what I did."
"I was not attempting to compare my filibuster to that suffering," he added.

Perhaps Senator Cruz and all members of Congress on both sides of the aisle should take advice from this quote of George Washington, "Speak not injurious words neither in jest nor in earnest; scoff at none although they give occasion." Perhaps that would make it easier for them to work together on the country's problems. It seems like more and more of the things that go through Congress are pushed by one party only rather than both parties working together to hammer out the best piece of legislation. For example as it is called Obamacare, this seemed to be totally a Democratic initiative without little Republican input. Not so much that the Republicans were kept out but it seemed as I remember they were totally against any healthcare bill, I may be wrong but that was the impression I got. And the same goes for the Democrats when the Republicans carry a majority.

my enemies' enemy. finally, a politician that's infuriating both the sides of the aisle, the republicans that left their constituents behind pursuing wealth in foreign lands and the democrats who have ravaged our country from within. cheney was being interviewed the other night, likening the republican party to the teaparty. he said that he hoped the teaparty could work from inside the republican party rather than outside. I kept expecting him to say, "use your hate, Ted, come to the dark side". we can take our country back, vote teaparty across the board at midterm.

I guess you just can't compare anything to anything these days.

I don't like this guy (Cruz) or his tactics, but I don't like Nigerian, Liberians or their ilk either. Seems like they have an inordinate amount of folks that prefer to scam others… You don't see or hear of the Indians (dot not feathers, oops) complaining when Homer Simpson portrays them as 7/11 clerks; or Koreans as nail salon running technicians… the list goes on. Fact or fiction I don't know. Either way they Nigerians ought to lighten up some. Mr. Ambassador Adefuye and others, me thinks you complaineth too much. In all seriousness though Cruz should show some decorum as a politician.
